Wow!!! Did you see or hear the tornado? Have you seen any damage?

No, I was in the development across the street from the demolished one just hours before...thankfully where I am we never seem to get storms

I am in the local groups and this area is just devastated

There are numerous flood photos from various US locations with water gushing up from sink drains. I don’t recall ever seeing such a thing.

This is what I received from my contact in NYC. Was sent 5 hours back.

We had a great first of September. Soaked up like that. Until this morning, there was no forecast, but then the rain began, which went unnoticed into a downpour that did not stop for many hours. Then a tornado hit southern NJ (! ) who destroyed a lot of houses on his way. Then New York and then again New Jersey flooded the hell out of it. Authorities declare a state of emergency, phones bursting with flood warnings, roads blocked, and the internet fills with dramatic photos of water-filled basements, sunken streets, floating cars and subway waterfalls. Tomorrow all of this will be in the news. Google's map looks a little apocalyptic right now. It's definitely not worth the drive. Tomorrow is clear, sunny and + 24 C.

I was just thinking about the aftermath of this: when people call their insurance to make a claim and are denied because they didn't purchase FLOOD INSURANCE.

That's right, it is a separate policy. Living in Florida we are all warned to purchase flood insurance and it is in fact mandated if you live within a 100 year flood plain.

I really feel sorry for these people who will lose everything .

I think the jury is still out on who had/has the most deaths. We’ve still not gotten a full picture on exactly what happened in Louisiana.

It's beautiful in South Jersey this morning.

Feels like Fall - right on schedule. Almost chilly outside.

Spent the morning watching the hummingbirds. They survived the rain just fine. They won't be here much longer.

It was raining so hard last night I thought the rain was thunder but it just kept going and going.

We have no power since last night… school was canceled today… CT.

I can't get over the thought of all the sewage that is now everywhere from lines backing up and flooding everything.... people better be ready for some bad diseases showing. Good forbid you have a cut and in that water or swallow any of it!! YIKES! It'll be F.U.N. cleaning all that shyte up...

Hope you get it back soon and that there wasn't top much damage.

Ours stayed on. I was surprised to see no trees down in my yard.

School isn't in session yet. We start the day after Labor Day ... we have to get that extra week or two in down the shore after the PA people go back home ;)

New York is far too close to the coast to be a safe place
to live. The cost to rebuild after such damage is not worth it. Time to abandon NYC and relocate everyone
there to the midwest.

I’m glad you did not see any damages in your yard. We didn’t have any trees down either, only my three little fig trees were knocked down but they are in pots.

My oldest son will start school next Thursday the 9th… he’s teasing his brothers that he’s lucky to have more days to have fun…

All the remaining power outages in NJ are JP&L and PSE&G.

That means they are North of here ... South Jersey has Atlantic City Electric.

In South Jersey, I expect local authorities to evacuate individual neighborhoods here and there due to dam break worries. All that water is coming down the rivers toward the ocean, so there will be small, local flood events for a couple days.
