In the big, big picture I can see it as a manifestation of the demiurgic/archonic journey on the downward spiral towards increased mimicry and simulation.

I can picture human androids, each spending their life in a womb-pod while experiencing countless simulated lives/personalities simultaneously with parallelization. It's a "green" way of "life".

A simulated simulation of the simulation, and so forth.
