Australian Supermarket Shelves Are Empty After Truckers Go On Strike, Protesting COVID Tyranny

Videos of empty shelves in Australia have gone viral on TikTok and Twitter after truckers went on strike this past week over the country's heavy-handed COVID tactics.

The video shows meat, fruit, and vegetables running out as the fight between the government and citizens heats up.

The Australian government has resorted to bringing out the military to enforce the most draconian lockdowns the world has seen

This highlights the "just in time" culture we have been lving by in recent decades and how quickly everything can go wrong.

It seems to me that China have a stranglehold on the world now....

I'm a Twenty four year electric distribution utility employee (to whom you pay your "light bill") and some of our materials and supplies are getting stupidly long delivery times.

Big substation transformers from one of our vendors are 80 weeks out. A year and a half plus two weeks. All American vendors are creeping out to 40+ I've heard.

Polemount transformers are 20-24 weeks. These are the ones that you see in front of your house. They get damaged by lightning and if a pole is broken by the wind they'll get bodyslammed into the ground and ruined.

A neighboring utility to mine has stated that if a major derecho event or tornado hits, there'll be months-long outages because they don't have in stock and can't get the material to restore service.

Even commodities such as bolts and insulators and AAC and ACSR conductors are getting scarce. We're told raw materials are in short supply.

Have yourself a generator, and have it where you can safely run your house as you see fit. My goal is to keep a couple little freezers going for as many weeks as possible..."

Old school hurricane lamps with fabric wicks and lamp oil are much more efficient if you are staying in place. And, they are everywhere...ebay, etsy, goodwill. Hell, I ended up with five of various sizes from both sets of grandparents. Great to have in the supplies.

Getting ready for building new house.Duke subcontractor came to install underground utilities....they don't have concrete pads that go under transformer....said should be installed in a month when they get some.

Propane tanks can be buried completely out of sight.

Natural gas is a good idea for a whole house generator.

No need to replenish fuel just pay the bill.

It would be great if you could get your hands on a tri-fuel military generator.

Then you can run pretty much run diesel, gasoline, natural gas or propane thru it and have power.

I am guessing most of the transformers and the parts for repair are coming out of Chicom? if so they could really cut our balls off anytime they choose!

why would you worry about keeping a "few freezers" running on a generator???

Winter = Cold = FREE freezer temperatures....DUH...
you don;t need a freezer in the winter...especiall if you have a house...you just keep stuff stored in NON heated areas such as OUTSIDE..

the older like 25 years or older are much better then the new ones they sell now, they are mostly just China junk for decoration, i have three from my Grandmother who died in the early 80's at age 100, they work great and put off plenty of light, have a box of wicks too. we use her Cast iron skillets too, back in the day we really made good things in this country, the Germans did too, now we make nothing but consumers!

I used to have a bunch of them, but I used them after a hurricane, and it was too smokey in my house...then had to clean off the ceiling!

So I changed over....I will use SOLAR LIGHTS. The kind you put out around your driveway, etc. I will put them out all day and charge them up, and bring them - one in each room - to illuminate the whole house.

No open flames, don't need matches, no smoke, FULLY SUSTAINABLE, as they say.....

I have some pretty vintage lamps too!

I like having tealights though to put in tin lanterns I carry around and put in different rooms.

Plus they look nice. :)
