The wife works for a big corporate consultant (you'd recognize the name) with impressive NYC HQ, took the jab so she could return to the office without wearing a mask. They re-opened the offices in July but then closed again for August, were set to re-open again in September but didn't, with October still to be decided. If the corporations don't put people back in the offices NYC will not be able to recover. Think of all the money NOT being spent in Manhattan on coffee, lunches, breakfasts, after work drinks and dinners, plus the knock-on effect for all sorts of entertainment that young people in their twenties and thirties would spend their money on, as well as shopping opportunities. It's a disaster, for both small businesses and the city's tax revenue. And, should the big brains decide not to reopen in October, they are going to have to be wondering if they need to have such an large investment in NYC real estate at all. Maybe this is the New Normal and corporations NEVER return. The moment of truth approaches.
