The ones selling right now are those who tought to jump on the bandwagon when it was low last time, but even they are seeing that there's no improvement in sight.

They know that the smartest thing to do right now is to sell. Those who are buying are those short term investors who are opting to make a small profit thanks to high fluctuations. They're just playing the stocks.

The financial sectors are doing bad, very bad. Telecoms are doing much better. At least in Europe.

Where is the surprise rate cut?

Today's fluctuations do look a lot like yesterday's pattern. We're heading into the afternoon - will she hold steady??

IMO they don't pimp it into the close you are staring Black Tuesday in the face.

The real story is the impending down rating of 2.4 TRILLION in muni bonds.

Once that happens, game over.

What I saw today was a team effort between the PPT and the Whitehouse. Offering a measly $800 isn't going to do anything other than maybe, and thats a big maybe, pay you mortgage payment for a month. The market yawned and continued downard.

Its a matter of individual psychology. Yesterday it became too much for me and I hit the exits for several investments. I did retain, however, railroad, gold mining, oil and natural gas stocks and some funds.

A lot of people have to be hitting the wall with all this negative talk.

I personally think its a scare campaign to get congress to approve a bailout. Every time Wall Street gets in trouble they have the public bail them out. After 1929 it was FDR's New Deal. Peso devluation - taxpayer bailout.

We will not trade above 1290. It will end 11,700.

These days you have to watch the final 30 minutes. Even at that, you might have to watch the final 5 minutes. It seems like lately, everyone is playing a game selling before the bell. I guess they think it's cool to sell of before it closes. I still don't get that mind frame.

It is interesting it is going down though. My hunches were it'd be positive for the day.

i had to run home for lunch and had cnn on. the reporter on the floor of the stock market actually said to "watch the last hour" and left it at that. it was weird.
