Geothermal energy, I believe this is done in other volcanic locations. There is a man who has a greenhouse in Nebraska and keeps it hot/cold with geothermal energy. It costs him less than a dollar a day and he grows better citrus than FL.
There are ways to do this in America without using Yellowstone though.

Realize that if this happens, it’s not a regional catastrophe.

It will be the end of your world. Full SHTF in a matter of days or weeks. Whenever it sinks in, whenever people realize that there is no “rebuilding” and that the National Supply Chain has fully collapsed. When they finally see through the empty pacifying promises relayed to them and understand that the electricity is never coming back on…that there is no more Mr. Newsman to tell them what to think…that food has run out…that no one is coming to “save” them from the bloodshed.

Because it will be bloody and ugly and brutal. There will be no such thing as legal consequence for reprehensible actions. Just the laws of the jungle and an ever-evolving foodchain of predators and prey.

Enclaves of the former Government will try to consolidate power via force, chaos will reign supreme and eventually Hostile Foreign Governments will begin circling like vultures over a carcass- then sending boots to put on the ground so they can try to claim what’s left of our Country under the guise of “peacekeeping purposes.”

Then a cascade of events will lead to Global SHTF. There is nowhere you can live that this will NOT affect you, unless you are far from people and self-sufficient enough to survive. If America falls, the World falls.

Welcome back to the pre-industrial age, next stop might be the Neolithic.

You will sleep better on those dark nights with a rifle, a sidearm, prepped supplies and some friends who are likewise equipped.

Get far away from population centers and stay way under the radar if this goes down. You don’t want to be living anywhere near people you can’t trust with your life.

Funny thing (NOT haha funny, but....) that you post this now.

Last night, they were showing Red Dawn (remake) and hubs and I watched it. All I could think was: "God, just let me die quick with one bullet to the head" if it comes down to something like this.

I'm entirely TOO OLD to try to outsmart, outrun, or outlast any f*kkers who want to come in and F**K with us....

For at least the last 5 years, folks on here have been saying, Stay in shape. Get in shape. Stay ready....whatever. I didn't listen (not to mention getting 5 years OLDER!). So, now, not gonna run, not gonna lead anybody anywhere! I'll take a stand, I'm somewhat prepped - given the small amount of space we've got to store stuff. I'll shoot any MF'ers who show up on my property, but beyond that, not much I can do.

I have followed this closely, being in SE Florida about 3 miles from the beach. Seraphim, I appreciate this post particularly & have given a lot of thought to the potential aftermath of this level of destruction. Would it even be worth it to try and escape the event when the new situation would look so bleak. Maybe better to just check out with the first wave, so to speak.

Tgirl,

See above. If you are young and you are smart (smart enough to be HERE, learning!), then they NEED you to help rebuild.

Go north and INLAND. I'm hoping the wave isn't so big that ALL of FL is underwater. North of Orlando, some of the state is 80-90 feet above sea level....and being so far inland, might be spared.

But, going along with a point Seraphim made, you DO want to be among like-minded folks. Folks you would TRUST. If you "ran," would you be able to get to those kinds of folks? If the ones you trust are living near you, could you convince them to leave with you?

Lots to think about, and thinking about it now, because that window of opportunity is closing, methinks.

I’m happy that I can contribute something that helps sis- thank you for the kind words.

You run for the West Coast as quickly (and as safely) as you can if this goes down. From there once you’ve put distance between yourself and the water, try to head North along the Western side of Florida (taking backroads as necessary) to escape the peninsula. You could just take 95 North up the East Coast out of Florida, but the whole thing runs right along the East Coast…I wouldn’t want to be stuck there in traffic if people finally hear about it and all try to escape at the same time. We don’t know how big the tsunami would actually be or how far inland the inundation/water would actually penetrate. Might be 1 mile, might come inland 100 miles. Might possibly wash over the State according to some people. So initially, my first move will be to put distance between myself and the threat…from there I will GTFO of this State before all hell breaks loose and I find myself in a situation worse than the post-Katrina Hurricane devastation. Come hell or high water, I will make my way from that first initial safe zone (North of FL) to Western North Carolina to start setting up my long-term survival strategy for the next phase. It might be a dangerous trip by that time due to a collapse of society and supply lines, but I will try to get there as soon as I can make the journey safely. I don’t want to be anywhere but those Mountains when it all goes to hell in the long term.

God Bless. You always try to survive- life is precious. “Win some, you lose some-“ but you try as hard as you can to win, when your life is at stake. Drowning in a massive tidal wave is a horrific way to die.
 Quoting: _Seraphim_

Seraph,

You keep saying you're going to "Western NC mountains...." and coincidentally, we will be there at the end of next month.

GOD! I think I would just DIE of a heart attack if this thing went down then and we were spared because of a pre-planned, random trip that took us out of harm's way serendipitously.

Or not serendipity, but God's Will!

I have been having the same thoughts. My family is 1800 miles from me. I can most likely make it to Georgia, but if the aftermath is so bad, I can't get to my family, I am sunk. I have many health issues from working in a building that had mold issues for 14 years. Between work, school, my cat's health declining and the stress of this volcano, I am so exhausted, I think I may just go to sleep if this thing slides....

Wow, hearing you say that makes me want to watch the Walking Deads again...different scenario but same evolution of things...yikes!

This is exactly how the story of the "'90s series, Dinossaus", ends. They blast volcanoes in an attempt to correct the crop destruction caused by the agricultural pesticide industry. It seems that it's not just the simpsons who know everything.

Welp there is the cover story for when they decide to line the ridge of the island with mini nukes and "pull it".

Everyone will be like yeah those explosions we heard must have just been those brilliant scientists bombing the lava flow so as to divert it...

 Quoting: DNoMo Michele B

There have been a lot of times when I felt like things were going to “end badly” for me, but by some miracle they haven’t yet. I definitely believe that we are guided by spirit and that miracles happen.

NC has always been where I’ve wanted to live- I’m only here in FL so that we could be close to Ms. Seraphim’s family. Sooner or later, whatever happens or doesn’t, I’ll make my way back up there :)

God Bless

This is what a volcanologist does: fly from his country to study the phenomenon and experience its consequences.

It should be clarified that Valentin Troll has access to the exclusion zones because he knows La Palma (and the Canary Islands) like the "palm of his hand..." :

He is a disciple of Carracedo and a respected colleague of the volcanologists of the Canary Islands:

In any case, "there are hostias" among active volcanologists from all over the world to travel to La Palma to investigate a "unique" eruption in Europe in the last 100 years.

That is, the same as the super experts of GLP who criticize, from ignorance and insidiousness, the actions of the Spanish scientists and authorities from their armchair (thousands of miles away), but who consume, avidly, the information provided to them, every day.

No acrimony...
