it would never collapse in one giant slide, there'd be a series of much smaller ones over time.
not that i look forward to a constant threat of 10-20 foot tsunamis....i'm in NYC.
Quoting: a passing cloud Wrong. Volcanoes collapse all the time (on a geologic time scale not human). La Palma is old with many fractures and those have been infiltrated by sea water. The flanks of the volcano are not really stable.
