The phrase "...Bring in the TOMATO PLANTS"

GLP'ers have had dozens of threads discussing the many
disasters that have been in the news from year to year.

When the anticipated "disaster" becomes serious enough to
warrant actual action (like bringing in the patio furniture
from the patio before a tornado)...something BIG like that
...the tomato plant jokes start to appear.

Many people have patio gardens on their patios and porches
and I guess someone asked if they should bring in the
potted plants as well as the patio furniture (for whatever
the disaster alert might be)...and the TOMATO PLANT REFERENCES
BEGAN!

Just made this new tomato smilie for the TSUNAMI warnings
people are watching for with the Canary Island volcano
eruption...and there ya go!

floatingMATERS
(Bring 'em in on the East Coast or they'll be under water!)

There it is!

cheers

I remember the first time I heard a reference to tomato plants was during fukishima disaster. People were losing their collective minds on GLP with graphs showing the radiation cloud heading to West Coast, killing all sea life in the Pacific and basically calling for the end of the world as we know it (again). That main thread was thousands of pages long.

With all the doom and death discussion around that colossal event, someone left a perfectly timed hilarious comment in the main thread that cut the tension and had everyone rolling on the floor laughing. All GLP could talk about then was how many millions were about to imminently die from the Fukushima radiation cloud crossing the Pacific and someone in the thread simply commented "so you're saying I should bring in my tomato plants?"

From that point forward, the phrase "bring in the tomato plants' became the GLP sign that the most unimaginable doom was upon us! lmao

You never know what's going to stick around here! lol
