The intrusion on La Palma is going like a rocket. At full speed. Comparative accumulated seismic energy. In El Hierro it took more than two months to get where we have arrived in three days on La Palma. And only 13 more days to go ...

Re: Cumbre Vieja volcano post eruption phase! Time to say goodbye for volcano-thank you for all support :)
I've mentioned the "wild card" influence on volcanic eruptions
from the sun in threads that I have hosted in the past...There
is some really good information on the thread from GLP's
"Adragon" concerning all the info we could find about
the solar micro-nova:
Thread: Greatest Secret of the United States, Causes of the Ice Age and Nova,

Ben Davidson from "SuspiciousObservers" channel has done his
own "catastrophe series" dealing with repurcussions from
solar activity/solar micro-nova as well--I think his is a
20-episode project you can find at his channel (dot org, not
dot com.)

I was hoping Ben would weigh-in on the La Palma volcano
but so far he hasn't mentioned it. He did mention in his
space weather daily report today (9-14-2021) that he is
predicting that a solar corona-hole wind would MERGE with
an unspecified strength CME the night of the 16th or on
the 17th (Thursday and Friday)...which could trigger the
volcano to become more active. We'll want to be watching
for that, for sure.

Anyways, like I mention before...BE WATCHING THE SUN for
its "acting-up" as the sun can increase volcanos, storms
and quakes. That solar thread is a good one to check daily.
Here's that link:

Thread: SOLAR WATCH * Huge X8.2 Flare Sept. 10, 2017! (Updated Daily)
The latest post on the solar thread:

POSSIBLE EARTH-DIRECTED CME: During the early hours of Sept. 13th (~0200 UT), a dark filament of magnetism on the sun exploded. The blast hurled a CME into space, and maybe toward Earth. Initial modeling by NOAA suggests a near miss (or glancing blow) on Sept. 16-17. The fact that the CME overlaps at least two other CMEs makes unraveling its trajectory tricky. Stay tuned for additional analysis.

Why wont the media cover this they will die to if there in boston nyc or miami
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76416600

I think it would become a government thing where they would be TOLD not to cover it as it will cause panic and deaths (and it would).

Not sure what the answer would be in such a scenario, but simply getting on the media and saying "hey a 200 foot wave will be hitting the East Coast in 8 hours!" would cause pure pandemonium.

I think maybe they would try to open up all the interstates as departure lanes but even still, if you have seen the tri-state are during rush hour you know even that would not work.

I don't think there is any evil reason they would withhold the information. It would be out of desperation and not knowing what to do.

It would be on a scale never seen in the memory of human experience.

The tsunami that would hit the east coast
The kinetic energy would dissipate over the distance and spread over the Atlantic basin
Plus the opposing currents would act like speed bumps...

Diamond explains his "take" about the government response
and whether there would be a warning given in this really
excellent coverage from earlier pages:

FairUSE

Remember, whatever the size of the La Palma eruption-caused
tsunami==there would be only a 5 to 9 hour timeframe from
the moment a tsunami would be formed to its eventual reach
to the shores of our east coast. That kind of a short
timeframe is NOT long enough to evacuate the millions in
harm's way. Diamond thinks they wouldn't announce it...and
that it would be more "humane" for people to face this at
home rather than in a car trying to get out of the way.
Pretty doomy stuff alright!

Whats the best case worst case scenario for the east coast guys
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76416600

Best case, and I have a gut feeling the one that will happen: there is an eruption but the flank doesn't let loose so no tsunami.

That would be: devastation delayed for another day.

Worst case: flank lets loose and a very large tsunami hits as postulated.

Medium case: flank lets loose and due to unforseen factors (loss of energy in trenches, reverse currents, act of God) it is not as devastating as thought and maybe only a 20 foot wave hits and there is still staggering losses but not as bad as it could have been.

This time...I vote for best case. Next time, I hope for medium case!

For those of us in the Americas... if it blows up and there is media blackout, we'll hear about it after the coasts of Africa and Europe get hit 1-2 hours later, still leaving several hours to run/panic.

You just can't hide and blackout something of this magnitude.

Go watch some vids of the Fukushima tsunami and watch how the kinetic energy NEVER dissapated once the waters entered a tidal basin. That energy kept going inland for miles. Once the tidal wave begins at Las Palma it will not be very noticeable, but when it hit the shallow waters of the east coast the momentum of the waves will pick up and begin to concentrate its energy due to that shallowness of the coast.

It will be a large amount of water being pushed into inlets and waterways with the kinetic energy not being dissappated quickly, like Fukushima. The waves will hit the east coast like a hammer. Anything in its way will be pummeled.
 Quoting: Tynyyn

The epicenter of the japan quake was practically just offshore, the energy didn't dissipate because it didn't have far to travel. But La Palma is thousands of miles from the US east coast.

For those who are worried ... if you PACK YOUR GO BAG NOW and move at the FIRST INDICATION that something is amiss you won't hit any other people leaving because of the incoming tsunami for at least 30 minutes. One can move a LARGE distance in that first 30 minutes.

After 30 minutes some other "early Panic types" will also start to move so the road should start to fill up but not too much ... YET, and you can still cover a pretty good distance in that second half hour.

After an hour, when the panic in the cities and those close to the coast (and all of Florida east of the middle of the state) starts to set in, well traffic will start to get real heavy quickly - some movement, but more like the hurricane evacuations.

After 2 hours most roads leading away from the the coast and the low lying areas (ie: basically ALL of Florida) will be so jam packed that it will be a parking lot ... and time to take to your bicycles or SMALL motorbikes and keep moving that way. (full size motorcycles won't be able to get through the tight spaces imo). One can move a considerable distance in 4 hours on a bicycle, at least 20 miles, and if you aren't blocked much 30 to 40 miles.

HOW FAR can you get in an hour of regular driving? THAT is the distance, and locations to go to, that you have to work with. PLAN ACCORDINGLY!! (oh ... and get PAPER maps to use, anything using the internet will be useless since it will be clogged. A Garmin style road GPS will also work, as long as you are STILL in a vehicle - which I anticipate you will NOT be for the last part of your trip)

AND ... if it is a big nothing? Well you were just buying some insurance with your time and gas usage. CHEAP INSURANCE

Was just checking "Simplify's" post (above) and the
article she/he links has some interesting info including
topographical maps that show how far a 300 ft. tsunami
hitting the east coast would actually reach. Also some
major east coast cities and their feet above sea level:

[link to modernsurvivalblog.com (secure)]

QUOTE:
CITY, (Current elevation above sea level, feet)

Portland, ME (~ 50′)
Boston, MA (~ 30′)
New Haven, CT (~ 50′)
Bridgeport, CT (~ 40′)
New York City, NY (~ 20′)
Jersey City, NJ (~ 30′)
Newark, NJ (~ 50′)
Atlantic City, NJ (~ 10′)
Wilmington, DE (~ 80′)
Philadelphia, PA (~ 40′)
Virginia Beach, VA (~ 10′)
Wilmington, NC (~ 20′)
Myrtle Beach, SC (~ 20′)
Charleston, SC (~ 10′)
Savannah, GA (~ 10′)
Daytona Beach, FL (less than 10′)
West Palm Beach, FL (less than 10′)
Fort Lauderdale, FL (less than 10′)
Miami, FL (less than 10′)

There are countless cities and towns in between these coastal cities. The Eastern Seaboard of the United States includes some of the largest metropolitan areas in the country. Over one third of the country (more than 100 million people) live along the East Coast. Evacuation would be virtually impossible for most (except for the astute who act quickly) due to only hours notice, probable doubt, and the subsequent immediate gridlock that would follow.
END QUOTE

Interesting.

It’s important to remember this particular volcano has erupted many times throughout recorded history, with the latest being in 1971 (and 1949 prior to that). Just because the volcano may blow does not mean the entire island is going to break off. And if the island did break off, which is unlikely, it may not even cause the massive waves that are possible but not guaranteed. Take some deep breaths and pray. Just last December people were worried about this scenario but nothing came of it. With that being said, I have had a bad feeling about this for some time. If you live in the danger zone, pay close attention and have a reliable escape route. Make friends with some pilots.
