Could you survive this by going up a skyscraper
Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76416600 Depends on the architecture of the building...where it positioned in the line-up of other buildings in front of it ...lots of variables. I wouldn't bet my life on a building. I'd just get out of the way! lol! The Oracle's Cookie Quoting: The Oracle's Cookie Some Yes. Some No. IF the tsunami is large any skyscraper built on Sand or a "Floating Foundation" probably will not survive the side forces that a very large tsunami will place on it. If the building is anchored into bedrock it has a much better chance of surviving. To see how unstable skyscrapers built on a floating foundation are just google San Francisco's "Millennium Tower" ... that floating foundation skyscraper was already leaning about 22 inches to one side, and it hadn't been hit yet with an earthquake!! (the repair work just started ... and over the last few weeks has caused it to sink another inch on one side and to lean another 5" at it's top) [ link to www.dailymail.co.uk (secure)] [ link to www.sfgate.com (secure)]
