Quoting: Disenfranchised Godzilla1980 The problem is with deformation ,the terrain inflates .Imagine something pushing the terrain upward and being hot mass.If lava mixes with water then we have very serious eruption .But deformation itself can cause troubles sliding the part of island to the water Quoting: Mister Pillarr so if it where to slide like Mt St Helens would that cause a significant tsunami or we talking about a landslide that would make that pale in comparison? Quoting: Disenfranchised Godzilla1980 Land mass size of Manhattan would slide to water in worst case scenario .I don't know how big was land mass of Mt St Helens landslide (I know it was huge landslide one the biggest )
