Some will make it. Most are screwed. Remember just a couple weeks ago when two days wasn’t enough time and New Orleans threw up their hands? Seven hours is barely enough time to even get the word out that there’s a tsunami coming to 50 million people. If this thing goes worst case, 48 million of those people are gonna die.

I’m surprised by the lack of news about this in US mainstream media.

"Odette," like "Groot" does evoke a little hillbilly humor as names go, but I wouldn't call the two similar. But no matter, as the dreamer dismisses the storm name/movie character as being more a thought oddity than a symbol of significance.

On the other hand, the name, Odette, does offer a play on words of the also converging doom of the Federal Debt Ceiling deadline...Odette – OH Debt!

I listened to a podcast about this yesterday where it was mentioned that FEMA has actually run the numbers on this scenario. They determined that actual worst case is 65 million people die. And THAT'S if it happens during the daytime. I don't even want to know the number if this were to happen at night while people are sleeping.

They also didn't brush off the emergency evacuation plan in 2017...

This shows the active ocean buoys and an Atlantic tsuanmi
would definitely register on that...unless they (cough cough)

It would seem to me that it would make statically miniscule difference if at night or daytime. During the day there would be total gridlock on highways and even backroads could get congested or blocked. Remember in Katrina when that one town wouldn't permit people fleeing the ravaged city to enter theirs.

I have no clear understanding of how close an eruption could be, nor any following tsunami and how likely would affect the US. However, I have a friend that lives the Keys and am trying to motivate them to move upstate no later than Friday. They were already planning to move for various reasons this coming Tuesday. I hope it is not too lar

The fact is that a whole bunch of "reassuring stories" aren't being published along the lines of it being so unlikely, don't worry, etc.

This *absence* of response to reassure is odd. It's not typical.

Yeah, with the exception of giving people just enough time to tell their children/spouses they love them one last time, it would almost be merciful NOT to tell them.
Especially if the difference would be that they die in a panic in their cars or peacefully in their sleep.

I don't know a lot about earthquakes but I read that shallow ones around a volcano mean eruption potential is ramping up.

What do microtremors indicate?

Microtremors could be smaller quakes at smaller depths or just small quakes at different depths.I will check out data for better indication how event is going on
