If the Navy at Norfolk, VA suddenly starts sailing a mass fleet of ships straight east out to sea, that would be a sign that a tsunami Is coming within this time frame. There are videos of the Japanese tsunami where fishing boats a mile or more from the coast rode over which seemed to be only a small bump of a wave,which was the actual tsunami. No damage to the boats whatsoever. I forget if somebody already mentioned this…

A trending increase of magnitude at shallow depth will be your last warning.

If you see things like 3.5+ at 2km or less, its time to pack your shit and drive west in my opinion. =D
