If the magma is so close to the surface and the flank went into the ocean there could be extra doom. The Atlantic meeting the lava could blow the other half up perhaps?

I think one of the previous posts was eluding to this.

The slope goes sliding into the sea let's say.

Displaces a lot of water rapidly.

That will create a very temporary cavity in the ocean, which once the energy moves outwards to race away to hit coasts, the ocean will fill that gap almost as fast as it was created.

That will then crash into the remainder if the island and the exposed lava. That will be catastrophic for la palma and probably trigger another tsunami, before the first one reaches anywhere outside those islands.

The swarm now has slowed down, but this is the beginning of the uptick and it almost blew already...

Hello Passenger friend,

I am due in Las Palmas Gran Carnaria 1 October. I will make sure I take my tablet so I can look up this thread when I am away.

I am no sismologist but I want to know.

I am more concerned about my boaties friends. They are still moored in Cadiz at this point.

Tell them if it happens to get as far out to sea as possible asap and take as many with them as they can. So they are past the area that begins to shallow and cause the water to rise up.

I fund it very telling the main uk scientific guy interested in la palma for the potential tsunami, works at Bristol University. That city will get hit hard if this happens and he knows it.

Alright - thats about 400 million CFSH - the crater would be slightly smaller so we could expect about 300 million CFSH pouring into the crater within minutes...

One cubic foot of water will become 1646 cubic feet of steam when evaporated at zero psi gauge pressure and a temperature of 212°F. One cubic foot of steam weighs 0.03732 pounds, and one pound of steam occupies 26.796 cubic feet at zero psi gauge pressure and a temperature of 212°F.

Holy shit! I think there is a correlation with the moon & the earthquakes. There hasn't been hardly any quakes since the moon set hours ago.
The majority of the quakes have happened shortly after the moon has risen.
The moon will rise today at 5:41 EST in La Palma & will likely cause another swarm of quakes shortly after...

30-gallon hot-water tank at 90 psig (or 104.7 psia) has approximately 314,095 foot-pounds of energy to flash its water into steam at 332°F. Translate that force potential into real-world terms and you have the example of the car being rocketed into the air as noted above. Another way to look at this 300,000 foot-pound figure is that it equals the explosive force of 0.16 pounds of nitroglycerin...
