Time to say goodbye for volcano-thank you for all support :) ... Quoting: ThePassenger I don t have enough knowledge about tsunamis. How can it be stronger after thousands of miles? Thank you for your answer I can't answer that. Some in the thread may be able to. I am pretty much a Geological retard. Inverse square law would apply to tsunami energy dispersion. That doesn't account for continental shelf topography which could lessen or heighten aspects of wave energy coming ashore. The law usually references light waves, but it also applies to other forms wave energy phenomenon. Each time the distance doubles from the energy source, there is 1/4 the energy at any given location where the energy arrives. With that in mind, even a 10-meter tsunami rising off the U.S. East coast continental shelf would be some serious doom for many people. If that is the case… there is an enormous mountain deep in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. Do you know what happens thene? I read yesterday a science report on how the puertorrican trench could be a devastating thing for PR if a tsunami came though there. If I'm reading what you wrote correctly, that would be a type of underwater land slide that induces a tsunami. Time to say goodbye for volcano-thank you for all support :) Hydrodynamics is a science unto itself, but I had a geology professor explain large wave dynamics as similar to a big wagon wheel rolling across the ocean. When the floor of the ocean is deep, the wave may only displace one or two feet, but as it hits the continental shelf the energy in the wave pushes the water concurrently higher. Friction and currents play into the wave calculations, so keep that in mind. And while we always think of a huge, Hawaii style surfer wave, tsunami also manifest in massive water rises. Fukushima comes to mind here. No fancy waves, just water that rose and rose and rose. Quoting: Jefiner So did they calculate the curvature of the ball earth and how the energy of the water dissipates as it goes up? If we live on a ball, tsunami's should only be local events. Doom off for the ball earth people. . The radius of the earth is almost 4000 miles. Of that radius, only about 2-3 miles is water. .075%. Earth is more like a damp rock than a sphere of water. Relative to it's size, there isn't as much surface water as you think. It's still a mostly solid rock spheroid with grooves full of water. Also, the thing you forget about the curve is that yes it might lose momentum heading up to the fulcrum, but it should also regain some as it starts moving down from that fulcrum point. Do tell. Sounds fantastic, the wave should change speeds as it spreads out. Has anyone calculated this! More complex math than I am capable of calculating. Or should I say it would take a computer and some fancy algorithms I don't have. You need the size of the rock, the speed of the fall, complex calculations about how water interacts with other islands and land masses. I won't pretend to understand everything, but I get enough of it to see how the worst case scenario is possible. Even if it is highly unlikely. Probably need a very high understanding of physics and fluid dynamics to break it all down. That's beyond me. |

Time to say goodbye for volcano-thank you for all support :) That one feed is kind of bugging me on this channel. That is a replay of the first eruptions yesterday. I think it's confusing to mix up the feeds like this. I agree, I just noticed, sorry bout that My impression is their 3 other cams are live but now I'm not sure. Other live feeds I checked are still down No worries. It got me at first too, until they showed the reporters being surprised by the first blast in the middle of their broadcast and turning around to see what was going on. It shows how many hours we are watching this that we recognize the pictures |

"The master understands that the universe is always out of control". -Lao Tzu The 5th Dimension principal of harmony reveals that supporting others creates strength. The lower dimension mind believes that acquiring or taking from others makes you stronger. Yet, as you can imagine, if all people desire to "take" from others, the fabric of the reality tears itself apart. If you want to start prospering and growing stronger, start focusing on supporting others. If you want to start prospering and growing stronger, focus on supporting others where you can. The second videos with younger trees alongside mature trees is impressive. The Northeastern coast of PR is full of tall hotels and condos. The last video reminded of data I read years ago of evidence of marine mammals being picked up by something and crashed against mountains. The fossilized bones were destroyed. |

Quoting: damselfly007 144 miles sounds pretty safe to me. Even if the wave did come it would slow down to a crawl once it makes landfall. Check out the Japanese and Sumatran tsunami footage. For reference. It also might take weeks. Mt. St. Helen's took 2 months from initial activity before the landslide.
