Spanish/Portugese Coast line right?

Sorry to burst all your bubbles but this is not going to cause any doom - The simulations for the so called mega tsunami were very far off the mark...

See below -
Murty et al.; (2005)[31] claim that it is almost impossible for a trans-oceanic tsunami to be generated in the basin of the Atlantic Ocean, which — if correct — supports the work by many other researchers that the failure of the western flank of the Cumbre Vieja would be unlikely to generate a "mega-tsunami".

Pérez-Torrado et al.; (2006)[32] indicate that marine deposits located between 41 and 188 metres (135 and 617 ft) above sea level in the Agaete Valley of Gran Canaria resulted, when ~3 x 1010 m3 (3.9 x 1010 cu yd) — one order of magnitude less than that of models of Day et al.; (1999),[7] Ward and Day, (2001);[8] and Ward and Day, (2005),[22] — of volcanic material collapsed, forming the Güimar Valle on Tenerife ~830 ka and generating a tsunami. They indicate that this collapse is the only plausible source, and also report that there is no indication that the tsunami propagated beyond Gran Canaria. These deposits date from between 32,000 and 1,750,000 years ago.

Scientists at TU Delft in the Netherlands reported in 2006, that the section of the western flank of the Cumbre Vieja that was conjectured as potentially failing and falling into the Atlantic Ocean to create the hypothesised La Palma mega-tsunami was both too small in mass and volume, and far too stable to break away within the next 10,000 years.[33]

That's great news, and sounds so reassuring that the science has changed from prior to 2000.
Yes I am being a bit sarcastic because they didn't even know this eruption was going to occur when it did. The eruption happened and the official science driven code was still at yellow....not even orange.
So whilst I hope sincerely that this 'new science' is far more accurate than what we were all taught in school about this possible tsunami (UK schools) I'd still be crafting an escape plan if I lived on East Coast of USA or any of the other places that could be affected.
To 'Just follow the science' and all the science models has become something of a joke in this post Covid world.
 Quoting: SJ ACIM

You do realize a tsunami has never been created due to the collapse of a volcano right? you people lack the basic brain cells to even understand that...you have more chance of winning the lottery!

I don't realise anything of the sort nor have I paid any attention to such things. All I know is that back at school in the late 80's and early 90's we were taught in geography class about this very situation with La Palma and a huge shelf of rock bigger than Manhattan Island which could one day (maybe 10 years or 10,000 years) break off and cause a tsunami. There were some lovely models, diagrams and very strong science words surrounding it to instill into our young minds. It's just interesting to me how the science has changed now in our little human lifetime. I guess volcanoes and rock slides have a far greater timeline and will leave our piddly science knowing really quite nothing on how these things will occur until after they have happened.
Take the latest eruption as a good barometer of how little we know. The science couldn't tell us when it might erupt or even if. That is why it erupted at code yellow...not even orange. So whilst the chances of a huge event like a tsunami is unlikely, I wouldn't give that prediction to 'science' to assure us all.
Have an escape plan ready...keep the tank filled, some cash ready and know where you are going. No need to panic, just be ready in the unlikely event you need a route to higher ground.
 Quoting: SJ ACIM

why is it so hard to see science does change over time, tech gets better and they are able to simulate things better. Not quite sure how what you learnt at school over rides modern science simulations and models....
 Quoting: Levinyl

Were are you with your assertion that there has never been a volcanic side collapse causing a tsunami?

People reply with consideration and facts with scientific links to explain you are incorrect and you do not even reply to that?

what you do not seem to realise is that many people here were predicting what has happened despite 'expert' opinions that it would not. these predictions were correctly taking place MANY days ago and were based on the available facts which many ignored.

How about you post a link to show a volcanic side collapse causing a tsunami has NEVER happened as you claimed?

The reality is that nobody knows which direction this catastrophe will take.

It's been ages since I've posted on GLP. But I've been following this topic since the beginning and I just wanted to share I have this weird feeling that the eruption will stop / slow down soon and while everyone will be cheering that this is over then the whole island will blow up.

I had this two weird images pop into my head last night while trying to fall asleep. On both it was like watching satelite photos In first I saw an ash cloud above whole island, huge cloud. In my head I heard a word "steam" though, not ash. In other image I was seeing the whole island disappear under the water. Completly gone. I know it sound stupid and it has nothing to do with the facts but that what I saw. Today I'm running on painkillers because I suffer terrible headache.

Sometimes, usually for most (imo), Dreams are just Dreams and mean nothing. Other times they can be the Veil being "partially" pulled back so one can get a glimps of something beyond our current being/location.

As a child growing up during the height of the nuclear cold war (50's - 60's) where at least for a while there was a real threat of nuclear anhilation I can tell you MANY people DREAMED of nuclear war events that would occur to them, or their family members, or to a location. Those types of dreams became so common that I think everybody had at least one, some many, over the course of that time period. Alas NOT ONE came true.

Unless someone has a PROVEN HISTORY of being precognitive I dismiss such dreams as just dreams, well nightmares. The FEW, and there are very very few, who DO see somewhat dimly through the fabric of time in my experience virtually never want to talk about what they have seen since apparently most of what comes through to them is death and destruction, not a happy thing to see on a regular basis. Thank goodness I have NO abilities in that regards since I look upon it as a CURSE not a blessing.

Chalk it up to just a nightmare brought about because of all of the news as experienced by many millions in the 50's and 60's, but as always stay vigilent about the reality of the real world.

In the last hours, the lava flows have been approaching the urban centers of Todoque town, part of Los Llanos de Aridane, located southwest of area known as Isla Bonita. Authorities have closed the roads LP-211 Todoque, LP-212 Tacande, LP-213 Puerto Naos, LP-215 Tazacorte-La Laguna and LP-2 at the height of Tajuya, in addition to the La Cumbre highway, LP-3, which is subject to restrictions.

The attached map shows the approximate extent of the lava flows as of this morning

Just a Rhetorical Question ... which probably means nothing:

WHY did so many Remote Viewers view THIS eruption, one that has gotten little press in the US?

There are bigger volcanic eruptions that happen around the world on a regular basis. There are other eruptions that get more press in the US. There are MANY eruptions where a fair number of people die (none here)

WHY did this particular eruption catch the attention of so many RVers, one that NOBODY has died in or even been injured (yet)?

Did so many RVers pick up on the beginning of this eruption because there is a MUCH BIGGER EVENT in the wings that is related to this eruption? A bigger event that they have not yet viewed?

The old Sherlock Holmes dynamic of "The Dog that did NOT bark" is something I seem to always notice in life. I have found that when things do NOT match up to what the expected norm SHOULD BE ... then something big is usually lingering in the wings, something I am just not aware of yet.

Normally I deal with people and companies and when this Sherlock Holmes dynamic shows up I tend to sit up straight and look again (this is how I have spotted fraud in companies in the past - and people Lying by Omission about very important things to say nothing about outright lying) and this just strikes me as a VERY ODD BALL dynamic for so many RVers to see a single event that is actually very small and NOT one that is even a moderate news item.

Just a Rhetorical Question ... for which I have NO answer. Just thinking out loud.
 Quoting: Midwest Skeptic

2 days ago: 20 cm (Not the reported 19)
