Quoting: Inerone It was also unlikely that the Titanic would sink on its maiden voyage according to the experts... Quoting: condor819 Questions-- LJS you said tptb would move their watercraft away from the continental shelf..which direction? Would the wave be so high as to capsize a vessel or would they just bounce on it as it passes? Talking about if they are well out to sea. Lastly, how would the wave affect Europe and more specifically, the English Channel? I haven't heard much from any UKers anticipating doom. Thank you... Quoting: Bastetcat ing this as these are not random questions on my part...please if anyone can weigh on this I need to know.. CC, you can PM me if you have any answers. Thank you. Quoting: Bastetcat Ships would move to deep water. The build up of a tsunami wave occurs as the wave reaches shallower water and the energy contained serves to create the ever larger, cresting type wave. "Out to sea" the wave generated by a collapse would not be all that noticeable to a ship other than as a "swell" rolling by. As to the English Channel, sorry, can't be of assistance.
