That would be the MegaTsalami. Quoting: HundredthMonkey Your slide isn’t deep enough. You have this small issue. Displacement is a key issue. But so is a crack under sea level. |

Quakes will become more intense as they get closer to the surface If there were pressure build up…. We would see it in larger volcanic earthquakes like MSH explosion that caused the 5.0. Most of these are just magma finding it’s way and being pushed into the system. Or gas explosions or expansion. |

Time to say goodbye for volcano-thank you for all support :) In 1949 the southern volcano on the island erupted. During the eruption an enormous crack appeared across one side of the volcano, as the western half slipped a few metres towards the Atlantic before stopping in its tracks. Although the volcano presents no danger while it is quiescent, scientists believe the western flank will give way completely during some future eruption on the summit of the volcano. In other words, any time in the next few thousand years a huge section of southern La Palma, weighing 500 thousand million tonnes, will fall into the Atlantic ocean. The magma rises up into the chamber, hence the very low seismic activity and then exceeds the chamber limit and rises to the vents, toward the surface, hence the “shallower” seismic activity. I am not an expert, but this is an interesting subject. I’m not sure what geological processes would be necessary to cause delamination of the lithosphere, but I read a little on how they can test for it. I don’t believe they have performed those tests in the La Palma area, but maybe? There is an area of delaminated lithosphere not too far away from there, in the Rif and Alboran sea. The North China Craton is also an area of delaminated lithosphere that has started to show signs of melting. The NCC delaminated back in the Mesolithic era, I believe. But - as with the volcano in Hawaii a few years ago - it will eventually peter out and lose its spot in the news cycle. My family and I have what we call ‘freaky (insert mother’s maiden name)’ Old Scots up north called it ‘the seeing’. We’re a bit odd, know stuff about each other in real-time, hundreds of miles apart, like twins. Dreams, mother dreamed princess margaret died and woke up and Diana had died etc. etc. List is long. This is the first thread I’ve felt the urge to make an account for, been watching glp since 2005, if that means anything. I see it as the first actual possible real problem I’ve ever read about in terms of earth changes etc. Might mean nothing but who knows. |
