Good suggestion to not have something in your hand. Last Edited by Swamprat on 09/12/2021 08:43 PM We aren't cut out to be socialists. We are the people who couldn't be constrained by Europe. You can once they have become familiar to you. Also, don't smile at the dog showing your teeth....that's telling the dog you are angry basically. And I would not act afraid of the dog, I'd just ignore it. It will come around eventually. And when it does, scratch it on its chest. That's a place a dog cannot scratch itself and the dog will remember that you give it good scratches. Again, just ignore it and do not walk towards the dog and rush it....just ignore it until it comes around. Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country." -Edward Bernays |

User ID: 73853635 United States 09/12/2021 08:55 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The dog has too much space. Bring it in a room with you frequently. Do not try to bond with your dog, but allow it to do this at its own pace. You should be the only person to feed it. This bonding process works because the dog needs food. Use an old coat, or robe, to desensitize your pup to your smell. Put it where it sleeps. Make sure to wear the item of clothing for a while, prior to using to calm your pup. Trust should grow between you. Your pup will make an excellent companion dog once it accepts YOU are the alpha pack person. Be patient with your pup, and yourself. It takes time to grow a good friendship. IF that is what you want. I raised my last dog as a certified Therapy Animal. We went to hospitals, drug rehab places. She and I loved the work. She had become, in her old age, as a best friend. Best wishes with your new puppy. |

It’s possible that you look like someone who may have traumatized her. Give it time. Quoting: RoyBatty That's what I'm thinking. When we lived out on the South Plains, we had tons of different dogs dumped off. Some were very protective of me and my daughter, but my husband and the boys, they would act alot like your pup. The only difference I noticed is our dogs would have their tail straight up. Yours has her tail tucked. She trusts you enough to eat from your hand, so I think she'll come around. Some dogs are just barkers. Someone suggested giving her scratches. That's a good idea. If you can give her a soft pet or scratch while you're feeding her, it might work. Just stop if she gets defensive. Give her some time. She'll come around. I've watched your other videos. You're good with critters. She'll figure it out. Watch her tail and you'll have a clue when she's over it all! |

My husband pulled a sick kitten out of a wheel well, the kitten was so frightened that it shit itself. Kitten turned into a fantastic cat who loves everyone in my family but is still afraid of my husband. It’s not the pups fault. Use treats that are healthy and keep at it. Also, walk her outside your residence by yourself if you can. Make sure her collar is good and secure. Cheers. Editing to add. If you cannot walk her yourself, go with a family member till you can. I would try that every night til she comes around. You could also feed her then too. Small treats, whatever. |

User ID: 80844746 United States 09/12/2021 09:48 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Well if she was mine, I'd take her for short walks by herself, stop and sit somewhere that's quiet where you can keep her close, talk to her, pet her, give her some treats, until she is comfortable around you and trusts you. That seems to be the problem I think. Not your fault, something spooked her at one time and she sees you as someone similar is all. She's young but you want her to lose that distrust. I would try that every night til she comes around. You could also feed her then too. Small treats, whatever. You reminded me of what we had to do with one of our adopted strays. He was thoroughly terrified of men. I finally sat on the ground, pulled him on my legs and started hugging and petting. Just all kinds of stuff. Then I had my husband sit next to us while I was petting the dog. Mr. TB started talking gently and petting the dog's ears and neck area. After a few times of that, the dog would let the guys pet and even rough house outside. Just takes patience and time. eta: I LOVE your dog's ears!!!!
