Re: No Baby Formula (WIC) For NonVAXD
My 1 yr old needs a prescription (for last year) for her formula, which is Nutramagen. It’s about $40/can, and she needs 8-11 per month, which is covered under her insurance, via Medicaid, as we’re both on furlough.

Went to the WIC office this morning, and was asked if mom & I had been vaccinated. I asked what that question had to do with me getting my daughters formula, and was told (with a sticker placed on my daughters folder) that we’d have to submit proof of vaccination by Oct 15, or else the formula “may not be available to us.”

Oh, this is in GA, as her Medicaid/WIC was transferred from Florida.

Can you start to put the baby on table food? My mom had to do this with me when I was 6 weeks old. She used a blender and watered down vegetables to start.

Mom was unable to nurse after the doctors stopped her milk to remove a breast lump. I spit the soy milk out at her and wouldn't put up with it.
 Quoting: Maiya

She's on table food. The only reason we go through this "process" is for the cost savings, and for when shes going to bed, or we are on the road, as we travel a lot. She could do without it, so again, my post isn't about the formula...its about the restrictions unraveling for going against the "grain."

I second the recommendation for earth's best.

If the baby is 1 year old you can start weaning off formula, start diluting the formula with your choice of milk, first a little at a time, then the next week do a little more until it's mostly milk, then eventually all milk.

My kid had awful colic and we had to start formula when my milk dried up, he was 6 months old. By 8 months we started diluting the formula with 2% milk (whole milk was recommended but it was too heavy for my baby's stomach) and by 1 year old we were done with formula.

You could use almond or oat milk if cow milk doesn't agree.

Most babies can be done with formula by age 1. Also start introducing table food asap. You can make your own baby food by getting an inexpensive grinder.

All babies are different so maybe just try some other things to see what works for you.

I am so sorry you have to go through this, it's coming to us all.

We are all beholden to the system in some shape or form.

Prayers for you sister

They send you a baby bag with formula, diapers,

Try it. Then ask if they have that formula.

If this is colic formula you can get it at Walmart. Also, start doing either homemade purées or pouches (organic is best) until you can start having baby feed himself. We started that around 6 months. Half Breast milk Half purées. Our boy is only 20 months old now but the only liquids he gets are water and organic whole milk. The longer you let them develop the harder it’s going to be to get them to want to change the habit of formula.

Regardless, fuck these evil bastards for trying to control what you two do as parents!

My kids were off formula at 6 months old and bottle broke by 8 months. Does she have teeth? Feed her real food and get her off the milk. You can use milk substitutes for cereal and even for drinking. I guess the doctors have different rules for babies now. My children are very healthy. But thanks you for letting us know that they are doing this. I know that was your point.

I can just see the staffer who flagged your file w/sticker for future reference of child confiscation for non compliance

WIC program is very strict

this formula is SNAP eligible and Walmart delivers to your door

Earths Best is a good substitute

walk away from any program that is making you jump thru hoops

Im a man, and a father of 5...and we all live together, and I am active in each of their lives, including my wifes. Not being a schmuck, but quite a few posts ask why I don't breastfeed. I guess, because I havent claimed that Im a woman, with a ding a ling yet, and we live a conventional family life. JOKES, but making the point.

The screws will tighten and then some more. Get prepared.

OP.. not being mean at all but its a good market to find a job with full bennies. They are paying $18 - $20 per hour for manual labor if you have trade skills it goes up to $40.00 an hour

We work on the side (under the table). Giving into the furlough, if we leave, we lose all benefits, contributions (to an extent); but most importantly, the company seniority.

It’s not the $$$ impact I’m emphasizing, it’s the blatant hook & carrot being waved in our faces; most on assistance need it, after being off for a year and BS unemployment running out. Yes, some take advantage and made more $$$ on unemployment, but people making north of 6 figures, that BS $275/wk buys bread.

At one time I would have roasted you for taking advantage of the system.

But then I see 100s of thousands of illegals being invited across the border…. Being handed piles of cash. Being handed debit cards. Filling brand new apartments using free housing vouchers. Afghanis getting free airfare to USA and 60k in benefits per year / when Americans in Afghanistan had to pay up to 5k to get on a plane, or stay behind.

I could keep going…. But the bottom line is this country is toast. Take out of it what you can, while you can. Soon…. There will be nothing for any of us no matter how little we get back for all that we paid in.

Ill put it this way...I had the same mindset for 40 yrs. I still pay back student debt, because my single mother, that raised my brother and I on her own, made too much $$$ to qualify...oh, she made $68K/yr.

I watched my exes sister have a kid at 16...and take free community college, only offered to pregnant high school students that dont have a father in the house, and then get FREE state college. She then took the deferred grants for Medical school scholarships, only available to single hispanic mothers...and now has her own practice; making $2MM/yr. She milked it for all she could.

My wife and I never once took a handout, put ourSELVES through school, and busted our asses to raise a (mixed) family with 5 children, after fighting for 4 yrs in family court for custody, so they wouldnt end up down shits creek. We BOTH made 6 figures and paid for it ALL. COVID took us both out of work, per furloughs, which companies now MANDATE jabs to work there, and we only have another month before they start mandating $200/month fines (so, its not hard to Google said company).

At THIS point, we're like FK IT! WE NEED THE HELP; SO WE ARE GOING TO TAKE IT.

FK THE FORMULA! IT ISNT ABOUT THAT!
