How are so many places understaffed when unemployment and eviction moratoriums are gone?

I don’t believe that many people are suddenly hiding now because of CoVid and not working just waiting to get evicted. Even fast food is paying $15 an hour in states where it’s not the mandatory minimum wage - and heroic grocery store workers stayed on the job at the height of the fear pandemic.

Why would all those people not be working now? What are all these mysterious ‘better jobs’ they left for?

Are the supply shortages really because so many people are MIA?

I just got back to Michigan from Florida. We drove to DC to my sisters, then down to Florida, then we came straight back through several big cities. Not one single time did we get stopped in traffic, even through Labor Day weekend. I’ve driven to and from Florida on 4 different occasions and would ALWAYS end up spending an hour or two in traffic jams. Not this time. Not one single slowdown. Not in Indianapolis during morning rush, not in Pittsburgh during rush hour, not in Charleston, not in Louisville, not in Nashville, not in Birmingham, not in Jacksonville, not in DC, not in savannah. NOT ONCE DID WE EVEN SLOW DOWN!

Could be... it did seem like about 10 years ago there were suddenly a lot more people. Everything seemed overbuilt and overly crowded very quickly. Maybe they got deleted?

It struck me that server updates might be on the Solstices and Equinoxes. It'd make sense to have major updates every 90 days. Check the Matrix 4 release date. That's a clue.

So the question becomes...

Do we want any needletards with us after the next update? Hypothetically speaking, if we could get rid of the no-jab-no-job asshole bosses, should we do that?

Are we going to wait for them to magically stop being evil, or should we cut them off? Should Golem by healed with marigolds and herbs, or should he be kicked into the boiling abyss?

And is Mount Doom the human heart?

It gets really weird when you consider quantum surfing.

Say your boss is 50/50 about implementing no-jab-no-job in October.... well... you surf reality with your feelings.

If you get the right combination of imagination, will and wonder... you can surf to a version of your job where mandates are lifted, and you can work in the office again. But if you (I) stay bitter and adversarial, you might stay in one of the dystopian EArths where lockdowns go on for while longer.
