I'm coming up on 3 yrs. and 10 mo. without a drop, not even mouthwash or cold medicine. But then again I spent a good part of my life in bars, jails, streets, you name it I've been there.

Early in my drinking days I would try and stop, but it never worked out that way. Then came treatment and AA meetings and they lasted only so long. Then I just stopped caring and continued my drinking for many years until a light switch came on after a miserable night of drinking and drugging. Nearly 4 years sober without a AA meeting, I must be doing something right.

Bottom line, you'll quit when you are ready, not a second before. And most have many bottoms, and plenty die before they realize there own bottom.
