Sure you can!

Didn't you read the story? She CAN do that. She did do that. It was done. He IS dead.

So you clearly can shoot people outside your home who don't belong there.

Now you could argue something might happen to her.

But 'she can't do that' is a really stupid statement.

Semantics.

Sure, go with the "shoot first and let God sort them out" attitude... see how that goes.

Someone looking into your window is not a death sentence, and no system based in common law would ever see that as an equivalency, especially in modern society with such high population density.

For what it's worth, my own mother lied to my father when they were in their 20's about a neighbor peeping into the windows. She also lied about having an abortion... She said she did it for attention, to test him.

The words "alleged" are important when you are judging these scenarios.

False rape accusations are rampant.

False hate-crime hoaxes are rampant.

People lie.

Think about Munchausen by Proxy.

People are fucking nuts.

Dude, these days you still shouldn't drive to a house that looks empty even with a For Sale sign out front. Cause ya still MIGHT GET SHOT!

chuckle

Sorry bro, no matter how you cut it. This dude got what was coming to him before his little fetish/urge went a little too far.

He's right you know.

I keep a spike strip ordered from Galls [link to www.galls.com (secure)] on my driveway beneath the leaves near my home in the Autumn.

No one has any reason to drive all the way up to my home unless they are there for nefarious reasons.

The monthly UPS and FedEx deliveries have no reason to drive around to the back of my home so it presents no danger to them.

Anyone else...

...they were coming right at me with a potential weapon in hand.

We have a long driveway at my parents' house in the woods... a few people pull up trying to find someone else's home from time to time, then just turn around and go about their way.

It happens in the middle of the night, occasionally... but we don't have a gate so that's expected.

We are at the end of a 1/2 mile lane, the last house, so this happens from time to time.

That said, I have more firepower than most up there, but never thought once of using it unless I was literally threatened.

The Amish and the Menonites go for their after-church walks and cut through our land sometimes too...

At least around here, it wouldn't be a good idea to shoot people on your property by default... it would never fly in court of law.

I say that as someone that's lived in urban, suburban, and rural settings and has seen the way it typically plays out, legally.
