Message Subject Texas woman uses rifle to shoot, kill alleged 'Peeping Tom' caught peering into bedroom window

We have a long driveway at my parents' house in the woods... a few people pull up trying to find someone else's home from time to time, then just turn around and go about their way.

It happens in the middle of the night, occasionally... but we don't have a gate so that's expected.

We are at the end of a 1/2 mile lane, the last house, so this happens from time to time.

That said, I have more firepower than most up there, but never thought once of using it unless I was literally threatened.

The Amish and the Menonites go for their after-church walks and cut through our land sometimes too...

At least around here, it wouldn't be a good idea to shoot people on your property by default... it would never fly in court of law.

I say that as someone that's lived in urban, suburban, and rural settings and has seen the way it typically plays out, legally.

Curiously, do they also peer into your bedroom windows at 11P?

The guy is dead, so we don't have anything other than her word for it.

I don't see her defense holding... because an unarmed person outside that looks in the direction of the window is not a threat of deadly force.

People walk by my place all the time and when my blinds are down, they see me, and I see them.

Especially when the lights are on inside.

People walking by in the dark are naturally going to look in the direction of a lit window, it's how human vision works.

If the dude was literally jerking it at her windowsill, I say call the cops and keep the rifle at your side.

I can't see shooting through a wall at someone outside.

Please verify you're human:
