Anonymous Coward User ID: 79336278 United States 09/15/2021 11:06 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My sister and my husband both looked for 2+ years for senior level positions. Job hunting at 50+ SUCKS. Quoting: Usually Curious 2018 They found a lot of postings were just BS. And others were postings for jobs for which they already had a candidate in mind, so still BS. Even when my husband found a job, it was through a friend/former boss, so it really is all "who you know." I don't want to offer my services to anybody connected to my prior network and they're already in big trouble for racketeering. |

Yea but have you ever seen them code? Like shit lol My wife will agree about them coding like shit. She says they spend months coding something that should take a couple of weeks tops, and then spend a year debugging it and it still never works right. My wife was a senior programmer analyst on mainframe as400 systems. She did financial and logistical programming for a major food conglomerate. They were absorbed by Conagra foods and she was laid off Nov 2019. She wanted to take a month or two off and then looked for jobs. Had 3 lined up to choose from and when Covid got big, the offers were withdrawn and then NOTHING out there. We were lucky, we had enough savings to see us through for several years if needed. She only had a couple of Ass. degrees in IT, so she went back to school to get her bachelors in business. Graduates in December. She has still been looking, had a few nibble interviews over the last year and a half, but nothing serous yet. "Hypothetical scenario, how would solve this problem". Presents a complex multi-tiered performance problem using what appears to be real data. Wow... looks like you're trying to get me to solve your scaling problem without paying for it... Call them on it every time. |

Had to take numerous online tests that showed I was "extremely qualified". I recieved 1 interview, and 1 entry level offer. For there being a shortage, no one wants to pay for a qualified candidate. I see all these sign on bonuses for drivers, restaurants, hospitals, and fast food, but that's it. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 19481810 United States 09/16/2021 01:10 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | When a company is not hiring, the HR folks will often advertise for imaginary positions so they can collect resumes and conduct interviews anyway. That makes it seem like they're doing something and keeps them in THEIR jobs. Yes, it wastes time, but they're getting paid for it and you're not. Just a head's up. |

User ID: 78963999 United States 09/27/2021 11:35 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I think they have some HR information system were a quota of interviews must be fulfilled, to look like they're constantly recruiting talent. Quoting: 3O Godlike I was told that these companies pay premiums for posting X amount of jobs per month via the online job network they are using. If they dont post something they lose the money and other things stipulated by the contracts. So yea, I think most postings are BS... To make the company look like it is doing well or forced to by the government? Have a nice day = GFY. GFY = Go Fuck Yourself. If this offends you then have a nice day. |
