I like Daozen's git branching Earth. Every time someone forks reality they get to take any contributors with them to their piece of land where they get to create their little own world. If main or other branches what to have the changes pushed then they can be reviewed and incorporated. All code pushed will stand on its own merit and be incorporated to main branch if proven useful.
Quoting: Git-er Done 79839142 Right Linus,
If someone wants to branch out into infinity and make their vaxpocalyspe NWO, they are free to do that. But who will join them? And will they get enough Human energy to fund their timeline? Timelines are built on energy... predominantly fear, enthusiasm, and resentment. If we don't pushback angrily against their games, they might end up disappearing. They can't make a dystopian LARP if no one shows up.
So if someone writes code in their own version of Earth, something like:
-tiny-houses-for-the-homeless-in-LA
many decent people will incorporate that into their own branch.
But if someone sends a pull request:
-hello-we-are-dutch-do-you-mind-if-we-create-an-nwo-and-molest-children
... then that malefic pull request may be denied by admin. No one is stopping them doing what they want in their own cube. They just can't come and parisitize our energy.
