God Bless Texas.

I feel for you guys trapped in Communist controlled areas.

Yup. Texas is a good place to be. I've been in Texas since 1977.

I moved to Texas from the Seattle area in 77. Back in the 70's the Seattle areait was nice.

A required class in 7th grade was "ecology". In other words "tree hugging".

Dixy Lee Ray, the govenor, was a trip and a half. The big rumor was that she was gay, but it was never actually talked about. Her wikipedia page is interesting. She was a conservative democrat in favor of nuclear power and let supertankers dock in the sound, much to the dismay of the eco-hippies back then. She was quite a character.

I remember a history class when we had a guy from some nuclear plant come in to speak. We got briefed by the teacher on how to pin him into a corner on how unsafe nuclear power is. And we did. Hysterical fun for 7th graders.

Pikes place market was run by hippies who sold fresh fish and candles and who knows what, it seemed like. And they had what amounted to soapbox derby races down the steep hill there into the market.

I used to pack a backpack and ride my bike to a state park and camp overnight. And rent a big wooden rowboat at Redondo pier for $5.00 and fish. Big fun for a 14 year old.

Seattle in the 70's was pretty cool. Now Seattle is terrible. I'm glad we moved.
