When caucasions say they are American, they mean American citizens. They're not trying to gaslight you into thinking they're native to the landmass. It's not like if you prove they aren't native, they will be forced to pack up and go to europe.
You think the cherokee were using the word America before the europeans colonized it? That's just silly.
