How did the democrats get away with their bipartisan responsibility stunt ? I thought you only need a simple majority

This was a huge deal to me twenty years ago. And fifteen, and even ten years ago.

Now it's just... I dunno. Inevitable, but taking it's sweet ass time getting here. Hard to get aroused by this kind of doom anymore.

I'm not skeptical, just impatient.

The debt ceiling will be raised and the salt must flow!

There will be lots of political theatre and then the "other side" will eventually agree to raise the ceiling.
