Re: Autumn Gardens Harvest and Lessons Learned Review
We got a ton of ever bearing strawberries. We're going to dig up the raspberries as I really can't deal with the seeds and process them. Pickling cukes, long english cukes, tomatoes, beef steak are just starting now and they're late, with the frost soon, they're up against the fence so we'll be putting plastic on them. I've just put the rest of my basil in the dehydrator, and a small amount of the parsley. Will attempt to get to the parsley and there are only a few chives. Pick the eggplants I guess. I tried drying them. Not my favorite and don't really feel like canning them. I am going to research other ways, scared of the pressure cooker. Not really sure what to do with them.

Still zucchini and trying grating quick fry and freeze with the large crop of russian purple garlic. I have curcumin and ginger in pots inside and will try to grow more and more, outside and inside. And am going to be growing organic dandelions in pots for the medicinal roots and leaves. I have pepper plant seeds coming, for black pepper and more seeds. Roma and cherry tomatoes for winter. Our carrots and beets and potatoes are still in the ground though we have to rush to start processing the beat greens, the rest of the swiss chard.

We have tons of butternut squash. lots of other things.

I'm planning on filling our back yard portion with a few chicken pens and getting 20 chickens, think 1 rooster since the neighbors dogs bark and we're out of the building code area. But then might need to make some chicken wire tube runs. Showing my kids them, want them to get a move on this year to spring on this kind of thing.

Thanks! Very nice. Gardening is a joy.

Just so you know, pumpkin pies and canned pumpkin are made from squash. Different species. Your pumpkin will probably be too stringy, watery, and bland for good pie.

I would save it for the annual GLP pumpkin carving contest. And good luck with the fence lol.

I like that fence/shade/wall behind the carrots.

Baby carrots would probably do real well in that box.

The cat is so adorable.

The 'leafy whatever it is' looks like violets. As weedy as they get, the flowers are so pretty & dainty.

I used to get sunflowers in the garden that I did not grow. they usually came up in stalks of 3. The neighbor was an avid bird feeder so I knew where the seeds were coming from. I don't know if the birds drop them from their mouths or poop them out whole.

Very nice video. Everything looks great, except for the 1 tree. But if it doesn't come back, you get to start a whole new plant there.

Really? I used to make wonderful pumpkin pies from garden pumpkins. After having them, no one wanted canned pumpkin pies anymore.

The seeds are the best though. Who doesn't love toasted pumpkin seeds.

I used to make raspberry jam and used a cloth to strain out the seeds. And raspberry leaves make for a good healthy tea.

Good to know, I’ve never made pumpkin pie from scratch before.

Ya, it’s going to be tricky to get out of there!

They might be violets.. they put out small delicate purple flowers in the early spring.

Hope the cherry tree comes back, but if it doesn’t, I have some baby plum trees waiting for a home, we will see.

Glad you liked my cat, he’s an awesome little guy!

And those little violet flowers are edible. Some people paint egg on them and dip them in sugar to decorate cakes.
You can also just toss them in salads.
I used to chew on them while working in the garden.

sigh.. looks like chestnut-picking-up month has arrived.

anyone want to see a video about me cleaning up the chestnut tree mess?

lots of big leaves, branches, bark chunks, chestnuts, chestnut husks, chestnut twigs, etc. maybe a muttering yet patient hippie cleaning them up.

i have to clean that up three or four times before it's done, probably half a tonne of debris it rains down on my lawn.

it's the gift that keeps on giving.

Awe heck yeah, I love all your vids.

We never had chestnuts but we had wild cucumber vines and they were all prickly pointed. Harvesting the seeds was awful.
