Bug out bag? Bug out car trunk instead. Stuff for your vehicle.
Some hand tools. Folding pliers, multi screwdriver,
visegrip, channel locks, etc.

Some sort of small screwdriver to remove hotel water shower restrictor. You can use a wadded up plastic bag if you have to take a bath. (rather than stand under the equivalent of ant spit) Deodorant. Toothbrush. What about a sweatsuit? Sweatsuits can be pajamas, jackets or make you look like you're going to the gym. Hairbrush.

Tea bags or individual coffee pouches.
Peppermint candies, because sugar is not practical. You can hold a candy on your side teeth while you drink like an old timey Russian. Maybe some spare pouches of ketchup, BBQ sauce, whatever.

2 cans of fix-a-flat (preferably green slime) stow them where they won't roll around.
Your jack works and you know how to work it?
The right tool for those special lugnuts, if so equipped?
Bonus round. 12 volt tire inflator and tire plug kit.
A traffic blinky would be great. I don't have one. Yet.
If your spare tire is flat, get it fixed.
Reflectors. Traffic vest.

You need some special meds, every day? C'mon, do I have to say it? At least have a few in your wallet.

Cell phone charger. A flashlight, but now you can use your cellphone.

A tarp will fit anywhere. A bic lighter.
Garbage bags,

AAA membership. Folding money, some change and ones. Nothing crazy.
We aren't cut out to be socialists. We are the people who couldn't be constrained by Europe. We are the malcontents, idealists, speculators, dreamers, inventors, debtors and criminals who would not be chained. We don't play well with others, we are brash, outlandish and cunning. let us do what we do best; let us be Americans.

I had small ones my sister made. However last week I had this intense need to get it done. I bought 4 used us mil duffel bags. 20 each. I made nice med kits. I used to be mes tech and went rn school . So I made nice ones. Alot of stuff I already had . But I got some upgraded stuff. Rechargeable flashlights. Firestarter. Your basic stuff. Some had nice tents and some got cheap ones. 2 battery powered siphon if you needed to refuel . Mainly get home bags and emergency road kit. Our plan is to stay at home . So we don't go farther than 40 miles away. Also I got some cool edc bag for my 9mm.

I always had emergency stuff in the trunk before the bug out or get home bag titles....blanket, water, change of clothes, food, etc.....Doing technician work, there's always a well equipped selection of tools in my vehicle all the time....

Hell I carry enough EDC stuff on my person to do many repairs without opening a tool box....lol....just daily habits....

If there is ever a reason you are bugging out in your car, it better be bullet proof all around and consist mostly of gas tanks.

I was referring to when this all goes tits up. Cars would be useless. Yes, for a fire, having a trunk of stuff might be useful but what would be most useful is a way out and a credit card to stay in a hotel that is not in the fire.

It got me unstuck once in snow. It took the full two bags I was carrying. It was a nissan XTerra with 4wd engaged and newer tires. Snow on the street was about 1 foot. And that stupid asshole (of what was supposed to be a truck) got stuck.

Cat litter got me going up to enough speed to basically slide up in my garage without taking out the living room.

It was bullshit. I have a hyundai awd suv now, which is a car and never got stuck in much more snow. The smart wheel control gets you out of almost an avalanche.

Being highly mobile and light with some skills would be the way out. I know it is a movie but the most reliable item I would want (and have) was showcased in Deep Impact - a dirt bike. Carry just what you can live on for a little while, while you can get out. You don't need roads but your balls are going to hurt after terrain.
