The producers of the documentary Builders of the Ancient Mysteries (BAM, of which I posted a thread months ago), are back with a follow up they called BAM 2. It is free to watch in YouTube in the following link: The original BAM documentary presented us with an updated and more accurate view of the supporting arguments for an ancient lost global civilization, that must have had some sort of technological development to be able to build monuments like the Gizah pyramids, and many other megalithic sites as in Peru and India. This civilization knew the meter, thousands of years before it was “invented” and had the capability of working hard stones, with precision that is difficult to achieve even today, and doing it at will and at large scales. This new documentary goes a bit deeper in showing the process of realization of the main Scientific advisor of the project, Eric Gaunthier, and how, through the use of modern measurement equipment, he had finally, and not without a lot of internal struggle, to admit that the ancients must have had some sort of now lost technology, that allowed them to work stone to such level of precision, and using what we now call the metric system, and all what this implies. This new documentary, a little longer than one hour, doesn’t require to have seen the original BAM, which is, unfortunately, still not free to watch, and will provide a very good idea of what BAM contains. One thing that is very neat is the relationship between the meter and the so called Egyptian Royal Cubit. The Royal cubit is exactly the length of an arc of 1/6th of the circumference of 1 meter of diameter, or said in other terms, pi/6. One of the implications of knowing the meter, is that, as it was defined by the French scientists that “invented it”, it’s a 1/40.000.000 of the Earth’s perimeter, so, the ancient global civilization had to know this dimension, somehow. Another take away from this new documentary is that they went back to the Barabar caves in India (which are impressive in their glass like finishing of the granite surface and the metric dimensions and perfect circular shapes), to make some further measurements and found even more baffling signs of mind boggling precision with an increased resolution of the laser scanner. One of the caves that at first sight seems to be rectangular, has precisely curved walls, but the curve is almost imperceptible to the naked eye, as it corresponds precisely to an arc of a circumference of 120 meters of radius. Another highlight of the documentary is the face of surprise of Eric Gaunthier when they measure the Puma Punku Famous H Blocks with a laser range finder and they all come out at 994 to 1000 millimeters (depending on the weathering), the baffled expression is priceless. Other highlight of the BAM documentary and that is partially addressed in this new follow up, are the comments of an expert stone mason that knows very well what can be and can’t be done with certain tools and what is required to achieve the level of precision observed in the ancient monuments.
