Banned Virtually Worldwide But Still On The WHO's List of Essential Medicines

This one is odd.

I remember thinking it was odd when it was removed everywhere. Removed extraordinarily quickly I may add.

Right before TSHTF.

Ranitidine (Zantac)

Banned throughout most of the world. But still on the WHO's List of Essential Medicines. WTH?

No doctor can prescribe it. No pharmacy can dispense it. Why is that? And why does the WHO still consider it essential when it is completely unavailable?
