Have you called your doctor about your dilemma? If it never has happened before, they shouldn’t suspect you of anything nefarious, but it’s not good to stop meds that quick, even temporarily.

I wouldn’t even know what might involve contraindications for supplements. Go get yourself some pumpkin seeds. Maybe the tryptophan in the seeds will help a bit.

I haven't called the doctor. It's never happened before. I didn't even think it happened this time. All I know is I hate this feeling :(. Thanks I will look into pumpkin seeds.

Benzodiazepine withdrawal is deadly.

Go, get some GABA now, Whole Foods, Amazon, any health supplement section should have some. Benzodiazepines hit your GABA receptors and keeping them active is vital to keeping you alive.

If for whatever reason these aren’t options the ER could give you Librium maybe.

Call your doctor and explain the situation. There is absolutely no way he/she will let you suffer until Sunday.

I highly, HIGHLY, recommend you ask your doctor to switch you from Ativan to Diazepam (Valium) ASAP.

Valium is the way to taper off benzos and it has a much longer half life.

It should help if you keep the doses low. Benzodiazepines work in the mind in such a crazy way. They make people hyper emotional for claiming to calm anxiety and it’s sad. I will pray for you and remember, KNOWING these are all reactions to the drug or lack of is half the battle. Don’t let you head get to you!

Look into Levium also. It has GABA and it’s natural but it’s designed to get people off these types of substances and also anti depressants.

I will run out Friday. I only have 1 and a half left. My prescription says Oct.2 but they said I didn't pick it up until the 6th.

What is your dosage and how much do you have left?

Have you ever withdrawn from a benzo?

Nope never.

Normal dosage is 1mg. but I only have enough left till Friday doing the quarter dose

Magnesium can help with the headaches too.

Tapering your dose until you get your prescription refilled was very wise. I have been through the absolute hell of benzo withdrawl and don't envy you. I am so incredibly sorry you have to go through this. Keep a cinsistent tapered dose and stick with it and your brain will eventually adapt until you can transition back to your normal dose. Don't forget that you will get through this and life will be good again. There is light at the end of the tunnel.

As mentioned, you're best bet is to call your doctor.

A long time ago, when I took opioids for chronic pain from a snowboarding accident, I would sometimes run short at the end of the month.

I don't know how, because I always took them as directed, or less than directed, but somehow it would happen now and then. People drop pills, down the drain or behind the refrigerator, on accident and sometimes don't even realize it. I found about 15 pills lodged behind the refrigerator and stove when I did a deep cleaning on my house about 8 years ago...lol

Just be honest with the doctor and if it's your first time running short, they will probably authorize an early refill, but they'll need to call the pharmacy to speak to the pharmacist I think.

Someone above recommended GABA which is an excellent recommendation for the reasons they stated.

They will definitely help take the edge off the withdrawals.

Until it's resolved, keep micro-dosing like you're doing to avoid full blown withdrawal which can be a real bitch and possibly life threatening.

ETA: You can get GABA at local health food and supplement shops for quicker access than ordering from Amazon. A lot of pharmacies keep it in the supplement section as well.

Call the Dr and get that GABA! If you do look into Levium and find it’s something you want to attempt to help get off the Lorazepam (ativan) PM me and I can mail you some if needed

Everything your doctors ever told you about benzodiazapenes is a lie.

Read the Ashton Manual on Benzo withdrawal.

You will make it through, it's just a very long process.

They are very dangerous, and long term use carries long term withdrawal symptoms.

Even with a taper, as you are doing, you're going to have to 'jump' and it will leave a mark.

Some people say it won't help but I've seen some relief with herbs. Try stuff like chamomile, passionflower, valerian, kava, st johns wort. Buy the bulk herbs and make your own slow-brewed tea (so as not to destroy the plant material), the tiny tea bags won't have enough in them.

You could also try kratom. It helps a bit.

Gaba is a waste of time. In-fact the entire 'gaba receptor' theory of pharmacology is utter horseshit. The studies parroted by the industry and the amateurs trying to get off the product is equally flawed. What you have is neurological damage.

The people who made it developed it to get their daughter off antidepressants I think. My wife loves it and besides the early Niacin flush (redness, warm feeling) it’s a great product! I’m actually going to try some tomorrow.
