And 2 ribeye steaks were $53 at the supermarket.

Looked into Frys this morning to see what's up.

Checked the canned goods section.

Looking about half empty.

Gonna make a big run tomorrow and grab a ton of stuff.

With the bill that got passed tonight - WE ARE IN BIG FUCKING TROUBLE.

I eat peanuts and red beans for protein.

If I ate meat, and times were hard, I'd eat braising steak or liver. We ate liver or kidney when I was a kid. Or braising steak in a pie. I just googled it, you call it chuck steak in the US.

Why do you need canned food?

Can you still buy rice, pasta, beans and fresh vegetables? If you can, you're fine.

Pickled food is better for long term storage. You can make it yourself.

I don't eat canned food, although I have stocked a bit of it.

I am using that as a gauge to how others are feeling in my neighborhood.

It is a sign that people are panicking and stocking.

I guess, but you can always stock rice, pickles and beans.

The point is, even if America ran out of 75% of choices, you'd still have plenty of food.

We aren't out of stock on things here, but the shelves aren't full. I'm not sure if that relates more to a lack of personnel or is due to shortages. The grocery store has more stock than Dollar General - it's not even worth going in Dollar General as their shelves as 3/4 bare except for junk like candy and chips.

I thought sugary foods like ice cream will increase the number of parasites living inside the children.

Father went to Smart & Final

He said there was lots of meat

But shelves of staples like flower rice beans & canned foods were extremely low.

Also said dairy & eggs wiped out 0

I remember at the beginning of the Scam-demic I was in a store and chatting on the phone with my gal, and I said a lot of people had comfort food in their carts. She asked me to describe what was in people's carts. Cookies, frozen pizzas, all sorts of frozen dinners, soda...

"Jeez, that's not comfort food," she remarked.

"That's suicide fuel!"

I, personally, think Cream of Wheat should be considered a violation of the Geneva Convention.

My son loves the xtra crispy taquitos and there have been none in our town for over a month..shelves empty in that entire selection. Not just one store in town, but all 5 grocery stores.
Not only that food, but many different foods are completely out of stock and have been for many weeks.
Also, meat is outrageous in price! My son loves steak stir fry, and so the only way I can get it for him is to buy tiny little thin sliced steaks..I mean as thin as bacon, almost.

I just ordered some turkey online and paid through the nose for organic/humanely raised. This is because I don't waste money on crap like chips, icecream.

I have zero issue paying $75-100 for a turkey. It's a special occasion and people waste that much in a month going to McDs--you figure $20/week at least for most lard-asses.

Edit: technically I could buy a $1000 turkey for thanksgiving since I do not spend one dime at shithole fast-food restaurants all year.
