My point isn't to detract from their abilities as special operators or aviators. People just don't need to be so hard on them. I doubt they've done very little MACP or SOCP beyond level 1 stuff.

It's not like their some swingin' dick from Raiders or Otter Team 5 who can throw down with elite level MMA fighters and hang.

A soldier should have a side arm at all times, especially the officers.

Soldiers are forbidden from carrying weapons unless issued them while on official duty. The government seems to really fear those they charged with protecting the government.

On special assignments even enlisted men can wear side-arms.
(now all they have to do is give them real bullets.)
