The bottom photo looks like something you would naturally see occur... given it's purple... but just light bouncing off clouds as a sunset would. You can see edges and shadows defined from the angle of sunlight hitting it.

The top one though... doesn't look like something coming from the ground, any kind of specific light source or spotlight, or it would reflect off the bottom of those clouds. Whatever the purple glow is, is definitely coming from above the cloud bank.
