I got a few five gallon food grade buckets from lowes and then filled them with rice, beans/lentils/peas and pasta. It didn't cost that much and you can buy a some every time you shop. Even starting late, it shouldn't take long to build up at least a month or two worth of food.
Quoting: themessengernevermatters Five gallon food grade buckets, used, can be gotten from a Walmart bakery department for $1. Comes with lid. Wash thoroughly and reuse. Costco gives away 3 and 5 gallon used food grade buckets for free. Arrive mid morning before they are gone. I have been doing this for years.
