Communications BLACKOUT. Rolling Internet Outages on the Clearnet on Downdetector. It is more than Facebook
Keep an eye on downdetector . com

You will see that there will be 3-5 different websites that will briefly spike with connection issues. It was happening yesterday and today. This also happened during the inauguration. I saw it's effects then on many communications systems and ISP's and online banking websites. Signal was hit hard during that time. The large Facebook outage yesterday was a distraction for the further testing and perfection of communications black out. Those in control don't have to kill BGP routes like they did yesterday to kill access to websites. BGP route attack was like pulling the plug. The testing now and that you will continue to see on downdetector and back during the inauguration was more of a light switch. They could turn access on and off briefly or longer if they'd like. Keep your eyes open and watch the show.

During the inauguration testing, texting on different cell phone carriers also had issues for a hour or so in my area. Streaming on different news websites was also interrupted.

You called them 'rolling outages' and it made me think of China -- John C Dvorak is always complaining how Internet-connected systems rely heavily on microservices (web services) and I have to wonder whether China's rolling POWER blackouts are somehow to blame? These microservices may live on machines running in China. Hell, the backdoors China builds into their network hardware may rely on access to systems in China. LOL

Don't buy the disgruntled sys-admin story for the Facebook outage. It's bigger than that.

A long internet blackout makes no sense for me. They would make us blind, but they would be blind too.

There were rumors they want to split the internet into a two class internet. First class internet for them and a dead second class internet for us. That would be more plausible, but is only speculation.

I remember Operation Jade Helm a few years back.

Some conspiracy buffs inflated the rumors to encompass some sort of martial law, which of course was ridiculous and didn't happen.

There was another school of thought though that believed they were installing internet "filters" or regional/branch kill switches, as the stated goal of the operation was to be able to operate successfully on American soil without undue notice/interference by the civilian or local government segments. As we didn't get widespread reports of "military operations" on home soil at that time, we can conclude that the goal was achieved... whatever they were doing, they did it largely without being noticed.

Is it possible they installed devices at crucial junctions of the internet superhighway, which filter or divert content with certain qualifying characteristics? Or which enable certain branches to be disabled at will, remotely?

Not saying I know this to be true, just repeating some of what was being suggested at the time. It certainly makes one think. They may have moved on to simply blacking out certain infrastructure entities and the momentary blackouts are the cut-over to the new system being managed.

Very interesting. I hadn't heard this potential operation during Jade Helm. Thank you for posting. Green Karma given

Yeah, our credit union was down for 17 hours the day of the Fakebook attack. A wide, pervasive attack that did more damage than they're letting on.

Rumors? Those in leadership and tech have been openly calling for internet 2.0 since the 2000s.

There was a lot of talk and buzz about internet 2.0 during the Obama administration.
