Breaking Arlington TX High School Active Shooter

The school is in the city of Arlington, but in the Mansfield School District. Swat, FBI, police from both towns, and both ISD police dept are all at the scene.

Never a dull moment.

Teachers are allowed to carry on school premises by state law, but I think it's up to the district whether they allow it or not.

Now this was the 70's and 80's, but I grew up around Longview, TX and recall guys in my HS having guns in their gunrack parked in the parking lot.

It's not BS. I see people here all the time bloviating about how free Texas is and it is not. It is the worst state in the country for freedom. I have lived here for close to 35 years, how long have you lived here?

I grew up in the Longview area and remember this well. A lot of guys went hunting before and after school, so they always had rifles in the gunracks. We never had students going off the rails and shooting the schools up.

I just confronted you with an unsettling reality didn't I?

This was okay at my high school in the 80’s….We were going squirrel hunting after school, no big deal. No school shootings either, just fist fights.

When I lived in Northern New York I carried my target rifle on the school bus and kept in in my locker at school every Thursday hen we had rifle practice. Some kids used rifles bought an provided by the school and even they were allowed to take them home.

No one paid any more attention to me than they did to the guy carrying the trombone case.

45 for me. I have my complaints about Texas BUT I don't have to deal with mask nazis where I live, vaccine laws and exemptions for kids in school are GREAT, homeschool laws are excellent, and I love the gun laws even though I do not own one.

Dallas/Arlington/Ft. Worth is like one huge city. It is a straight shot on the freeway in either direction.

Sadly, this far, I agree. I don't think it's a FF. Kids are super messed up these days, the internet is awful in many ways for their mental health, they bully each other horribly, and planetary alignments starting today indicate potential for heightened emotions leading to serious conflict with extreme long-term consequences on a personal and global level. Advice is to control yourself well and avoid conflict during the next week and a half.

My wife's school went into immediate lockdown after this happened.

She is five minutes from that campus.
