I remember how funny it was to hear those words said on stage, but it's a common place to hear them now in all types of entertainment.
Carlin was a genius at times but I cringe to hear his bits making fun of Christianity. But to each their own.

My mom and dad listened to Carlin and Pryor after they thought we were asleep. I stayed awake in bed on Friday and Saturday nights to listen, I loved to hear them laughing and talk openly about what they were hearing. They allowed me to stay up to watch Saturday Night Live, but I sneaked into the living room to watch The Midnight Special, (I was never the same after watching Ziggy Stardust and Fleetwood Mac). Dark Shadows and Dr. Who mesmerized me.

But yeah, humour is wasted on this generation. My son says I have "dad joke humour", while I find his humour sickeningly gross. Thanks for your post, I'm leaving now to go watch me some Carlinian wisdom gems.
