Prednisone is an awesome drug!! I used to have it prescribed to me as a kid nearly every summer. I always managed to get poison ivy. A few times on my face and neck. Once my face and neck swelled so badly it was affecting my breathing. Usually I would get a shot of it at doctor's office and a prescription to fill. You know the drill, 5 pills or 4 for 2 days, 3 pills for 2 days, 2 pills for 2 days, etc. till they were gone. It was the only thing that worked. But no, of course, for long term usage.
