Subject: Information about Food and Nutrition Services facing supply issues

Dear Cherry Creek Schools Community,

The Food and Nutrition Services department has had ongoing challenges in securing food and supplies this year, and these issues significantly worsened at the end of last week. As a result, we will need to make some changes in order to continue providing breakfast and lunch for our students.

I have summarized the changes below that will take effect beginning Oct. 25, when students return from Fall Break.

Fruit and vegetable selections at lunch will be reduced to two options of each daily rather than three options of each.

Availability of breakfast food is our largest challenge currently, so our bakery operation will increase production of breakfast items to compensate for this shortage. We will continue to research additional vendors to secure breakfast items.

Entrée options at the middle and high school level will be reduced to maximize the efficiency of our limited staff at each location. A vegetarian option will continue to be offered daily

Students will be able to purchase second entrées at all levels as the supply chain allows.

Menus may change with very short notice, as we are not being notified ahead of time about what items will not be included in a delivery. Please check updates to menus at specific locations at [link to family.titank12.com (secure)]

School nurses will be notified of menu changes and parents and students with food allergies and/or modified diets will be notified of any changes that affect them.

Obtaining milk for all schools remains a challenge, but water is always available. Students should carry refillable water bottles in order to access the bottle fillers in our schools in case disposable cups become limited.

Thank you so much for your support of the Food and Nutrition meal program.

Sincerely,

Kim Kilgore

Director of Food and Nutrition Services
