More accurately, we live in a world of Cluster B disordered: borderlines (BPD), narcissistic PD (NPD) and Antisocial PD (sociopaths and psychopaths, ASPD).
BPD and NPD are not fully grounded in objective reality, have unstable internal identities, and believe they are entitled to use, abuse, steal, harm and otherwise shove their crap onto you in defense of their fantasy construction (false self, false life), which also requires them to control you, everyone and everything around them to keep the ego stroked and the fantasy narrative propped up. These are the totalitarian, 'feelings are facts', 'cancel culture' freaks (BPD are high emotion, high drama. NPD are not.).
ASPDS know exactly who they are, mostly operate in objective reality (not all) and believe they are entitled to use, abuse, steal, harm and otherwise shove their crap onto you to satify their desires for apex predator power and control because, well, 'honey badger just don't give a damn'.
Each is characterized with a deficiency in, or total lack of, the full traits of humanity, namely empathy.
Do not ever, ever underestimate the depth of mental illness or the danger of a person who lacks empathy, and always remember their brains are physically structured and wired differently. They do not think like non-disordered do.
Yes, this is the unspoken real epidemic in the US because our systems are designed to enable and reinforce this type of mental illness...and create more victims. What we are seeing in the macro today is a result.
And, it all starts in the home with genetics and epigenetics. A thought to ponder.
