Message Subject I need advice on an AR-15

Okay gun guys (and girls), I’m looking to get into an AR-15. Husband is an AK guy but he’s found an Armalite AR-15 LTC that weighs 6lbs unloaded. It has a 16” barrel. He said that was pretty much the lightest AR but that GLP was filled with gun knowledge people and see what someone here says.

Anyway, I’m looking for a lightweight AR that’s as short as possible without having to go through NFA tax stamp hassles. My price range is $900-$1200; $1200 being pretty much max.

I’m trying to get advice before I go to purchase because I’m sure they’ll think I’m just a dumb girl and they’ll try and sell me what they have instead of what I want: a short and light AR.

My advice is to not trust advice. When it comes to guns people have a lot of strong, baseless opinions. They repeat things they’ve heard. They repeat something they read in an article. Most people haven’t shot a lot of different guns. Most people haven’t owned and maintained a lot of different guns. So very few people actually have broad enough experience to have a very useful opinion.

This.

I am a bonafide gun guy. I make my living in the industry. And I’m gonna prove it to the OP right now by just keeping my mouth shut and letting all the people that think they know guns make asses outta themselves. Except the “this” poster. They know what they’re talking about.
