HAD TO CUT MY LONG HAIR YESTERDAY, POST-COVID FALLOUT HAPPENING
I had no idea that one of the after effects of COVID was that your hair would fall out. Damned if mine didn't start about a month ago, which is about three months after I went through an awful episode of the "C" word. (That damn word makes me so mad I even hate saying it.) It has disrupted our lives in so many ways, and now my gorgeous hair has thinned out to the point I have a bald spot on top and I had to cut it all the way up to my shoulders yesterday.

I hate COVID

Has anyone else experienced hair loss after going tthrough COVID?

Yes, my wife is currently going through the same thing.

She said she's getting a haircut too, ironically delayed 2 weeks because her stylist has "The Flu".

She panicked for weeks about it.

Wet drowned rats found at the drain of the shower.

She obsessed over it.

Says she can see "little stubble" coming in so she thinks it's just all her old hair thats going out and she's getting new hair that will take awhile to grow back.

Thank you for posting so I can let her know she's not alone.

I went through the same thing she did. Had to get the "snake" to clear the drain in the shower and pulled out huge clumps several times.

My hairdrresser told me it's only temporary, but when it's happening to you it feels like forever.

It is scary, extremely stressful. I hope your wife's hair grows back beautiful

any illness takes alot out of your body and hair and nails are biologically optional.

WHen you have a fever for several days, it can give you horizontal ridges in your finger nails that takes months to grow out.

The stress of having a novel virus can cause your hair to fall out. Hair grows like every 60 to 90 days, so the effects can post date the end of the illness.

How do you know you had "covid"? A fake PCR test--that may have been contaminated, itself.

Unfortunately, before "covid" we have all seen some women have had that problem.

Illnesses are hard on the body, and the hair isn't "necessary" for survival so it falls out. Look up Telogen Effluvium. That's what you likely have. Good news is that your hair will come back.

I had covid in early August.
My hair began falling out by the handful a few weeks ago. I immediately started taking 3000 mcg of biotin, an iron supplement and a multivitamin daily. Only washing my hair once a week(I don't have greasy hair so it's not an issue). Use dry shampoo if possible, when needed. I've been very gentle with my hair. No straightening, no flatiron. Noticed on Monday I'm losing less, alot less hair now. Whew...

I had to get my long hair cut because the weight of the hair was hurting my neck. I have very thick hair at 60 years old.

Your wife is not alone! Mine is going through the same things. She had long beautiful hair pre Covid. Post Covid, coming out in clumps etc. the volume of hair she has lost is amazing, almost as bad as my moms chemo loss a year ago.

Biotin, vitamin b12 and even rogain all help! Everything we have heard it is temporary and will grow back.

Using "the flu variant that can make you lose your sense of smell and cause your hair to potentially fall out" every time we want to refer to the cause is tedious and tiresome.

We use "Covid" as a label.

How do we know? We lost our sense of smell for a month and even after 4 months now, it's only at about 80% of what it used to be.

Loss of smell is a primary, 100% indicator that you've had "Covid" (or whatever you want to name the flu strain)

Whatever Covid is it seems to affect the blood. Iron deficiency will make you lose your hair...I would recommend looking into anemia and see if you have any other symptoms.

Have not had COVID, but did have a hair fall due to stress. The hair usually drops a couple months after the stressful event. COVID is a stressful event.

It all grew back without issue, but did have a lot of the shorter, pesky hairs till they got length again.

All my hair is now waist length again.
