Does the US government control federal lands anymore?

It starts with a funny story from Zerohedge:

US Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg is on his second month of paid paternity leave - leaving an empty post as the Biden supply chain crisis spirals further out of control.

According to Politico, "Buttigieg’s office told West Wing Playbook that the secretary has actually been on paid leave since mid-August to spend time with his husband, Chasten, and their two newborn babies."

"For the first four weeks, he was mostly offline except for major agency decisions and matters that could not be delegated," said a DOT spokesperson, adding "He has been ramping up activities since then."

The failed 2020 presidential candidate will "continue to take some time over the coming weeks to support his husband and take care of his new children. ..." (<50%)

So let's blame Buttplug, right? What an idiot, he was being groomed for President in 2024 and now he'll be an object of ridicule!

But Trump's transportation secretary, Mitch's wife, didn't do anything either. She had close ties to China and got some sort of award from them while she was holding that office here. Shocking, right?

But it's a pattern. Our transportation secretaries don't do anything.

What about the border with Mexico? Trump didn't build much of any wall, just refurbed what was already in place. Left Del Rio wide open, while claiming the wall was almost complete. Maybe Trump just lied, or maybe he was playing with words. Is that the real US border? Or who really owns the federal area around Del Rio TX?

Obama / Biden did only shovel-ready projects. Same story, repaving roads that already existed. Nothing new.

Like we're guests here, renters, maintaining the place. Doing minimal maintenance at that.

The way the infrastructure bill is going, it looks like the best outcome, which seems likely, is that it gets tied to the insane "Reconciliation Bill" and then Kyrsten Sinema stands in the dike and prevents its passage. Maybe she earns a spot as R nominee for president in 2024 or 2028 for that. But what happens then is that NOTHING is passed, no infrasture is built. I have no emotional investment in it and wouldn't mind that outcome at this point.

(Kyrsten Sinema wrote a book "Unite and Conquer", with foreword by the deceased Janet Napolitano. She's all about cooperation, apparently.)

But who really owns this continent?
