If you want to use a basketball as a scale model of Earth you need to understand that for it to spin at the same equivalent speed of Earth, it would also have to spin at 3,125 cm/hour. Just then the radial motion would be properly scaled down.

I am using the size 7 basketball measures, with a perimeter of 75 centimeters, and rounding up the duration of the day to 86.400 seconds.

You know how when you see a plane flying in the sky and it looks like it’s going really slow? Well the plane is actually flying at over 500 miles per hour. It only looks like it’s going slow because it’s so far away. The videos of the earth from space are all filmed from orbit which means the camera is traveling faster than the rotational speed of the surface of the earth so you can’t film it the same way you can film a basketball spinning on someone’s finger.

if you took a ride in any of the rockets, at the apex you'd see firsthand the earth is flat with no curvature. You need to be more than 1-1/2 earth radius altitude before the earth is visible edge-to-edge in your line of sight. At that distance, it may reveal itself to be a donut shape, or a cucumber shape, or maybe even round and flat. The moon looks round and flat, doesn't it?
