I have not seen it. I dont watch the live feeds much. But, what I am looking for are new fissures to open that might indicate the failure of the western flank.

The fissures are what Bill McQuire (SP?) said would be among the first signs that the flank was about to go.

During the 1949 eruption of this volcano, one of two to eruptions to occur during the 20th century, a ~9 mile long fissure opened along the top of the dominant ridge of Cumbre Vieja and the western flank slipped some 13 feet downward.

Wish I knew what white smoke or black smoke actually meant, I mean I understand a typical fire, but what does it mean in a volcano? What is the volcano saying... besides I’m a angry volcano.

I read in another thread that the black smoke can be indicative of magma intruding into aquifers and burning off the iron oxide in the water.
