I said "devalue"....I said nothing about inflation or purchasing power. There's a time coming, sooner rather than later, when they'll pull the plug on the dollar and it will be completely worthless in the blink of an eye. No they are confusing everybody. You already have to report all transactions over 10,000 dollars, that's been the law for a long time. It has nothing to do with a time frame. When you buy a new car the dealer has to report the sale to the feds. If you buy cash you need a certified cashiers check from a recognized bank.

Anything over 10k was already reported. It's been that bad a long time now.

They want to have Banks step in and report all transactions over 600, but I have news for you.

They do already. Face it you are being watched, every step of the way now.

If you think a mainstream bank is your friend, no way, I found out my national bank mandated the Jab for employees. As soon as I can I'm closing out the account and going with a local bank that's not mandating.

In Texas you can buy an automobile with silver and gold. I have seen it done. Gold ad silver do retain their value and in many states it is still consider tenor, even if it is uncommon to use it this way.

I took on a lot of debt as soon as the govt started printing so much money and bought assets. The idea being, too much money = inflation = pay back debt later with cheaper dollars.

So In buying gold and silver what do the retailers charge for a commission on the buy then at the sale? You buy silver at $20 an ounce but what does the retailer get?

Because inflation makes the dollar worth so much less? That means it takes much more money to pay things back, not less.

The amount owed doesn’t just stay static. There’s a reason prices go up but income stays the same, and creates a disparity of what can be afforded.

No one here can tell the future. Maybe those who prep will be old and destitute because they spent their life savings on irrational fears. Its up to you do decide if the fears expressed here are irrational or not. You are responsible for you - no one else. Your life savings is - as we speak - being devalued. We have numerous examples in history of this same thing happening in other countries. The US dollar is still the basis of swift and the world reserve and will remain that way -- till it isn't. When something else is perceived to suck less than the dollar, then the US will not be able to export its inflation.
Will it collapse to Venezuela or Zimbabwe levels? Maybe not. Will it collapse as fast? Maybe not.

But I can guarantee you this - what your 300,000 will buy today , it will not buy in a year. Will the inflation be bad enough to crash the dollar? Well, there are a lot of world forces that would love to see that happen, and it sure seems that our government is loyal to something other than the American people, doesn't it? Will the crash be bad enough that police will no longer be policing? Did you notice that in some places that the police are already not policing?


Where do you put it?

Do you have any debt on your house? Pay it off.
Do you have 6-months to a year of dried food?
Do you have a way to purify water?
Do you have a reliable power source like an off-grid power system (solar+batts+generator)
Do you have guns and ammo to protect the above from those who will come looking for it if things do go to crap?
Do you have goods you could barter with - junk silver, matches, lighters, .22 ammo, tampons....

How self-sufficient can you make yourself where you are? Would selling and moving to a more rural area be better?

Do you have your own well and septic?
A big propane tank? A farm gas an or diesel tank?
A decent size garden and rainfall or ground water enough to water it?
Chickens, Rabbits, Goats, Cattle?

I could easily spend $300,000 on preps and you should be grateful you have such resources, and that you still have your life. If you are unsure others here are right in their fears, maybe hedge your bets. Keep half or 3/4 of your money in savings, and spend the remaining quarter on the basic crap... spend more if down the road you conclude that it would be wise to do so. Don't despair. You have much more to work with than many here and they aren't going to blow their brains out. Its the end of the world as we have known it - its NOT the end of the world. Adapt.

Inflation is how the debts are defaulted upon.
It doesn't increase debt - but free money and printing do..
And then inflation drives the society in to debt because their bank accounts are confiscated (be devaluation) as part of the payment.

You can take on a big amount of debt in an inflationary environment if you know you will be first inline for inflated dollars from the press ( as the govt and big banks are)
If you get money by trading services, you are not first in line, trade is f'd up by the ever changing prices, and you find that you can't pay your debts.. so the people you borrowed the money from can legally take all your stuff.

Nice of you to make such a long reply. I have some prepping going on, but not enough for 6 months. No alternative power or water. I'm saving and looking for property. That's been a goal for a little while now. I've also been trying to make time to get out-of-state and get a feel for property elsewhere. At this stage I need a bit of land to do anything proper. I can't do shit where I am at.

but whatever; I missed the boat, I didn't get property in time, I'll do the best I can in my urban area.
